Obituary For George Lipscomb
George Kenneth Lipscomb, Sr., 89, transitioned peacefully into eternal rest after a brief illness on August 11, 2016 at the Hock Family Pavilion. George was a life-long resident of Durham, North Carolina. He served the community for many years primarily as an educator and coach at Durham Public Schools and North Carolina Central University. George was the son of the late Will and Bertha Lipscomb. His loving wife Clara Cotton Lipscomb and two children George K. Lipscomb, Jr. and Clarrissie U. Hatchel preceded him in death. His memory will be cherished by his son Ronald H. Lipscomb and daughter Cheryl L. Reddish. He leaves behind a host of loving relatives and friends. Family visitation begins at 12 P.M. with the service beginning at 1 P.M. on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Russell Memorial CME Church, 703 South Alston Avenue, Durham NC 27701.
