George Lipscomb

Thank you and my family for accepting my husband from the very beginning. Bill loves you and Auntie Clara. You are now with my Mom, your sister, Cleo. Your other sister,Aunt Me, Cousins Ann an Kenny's Mom. And brother Edon. Say hello to my sister, your niece, Belva - Froggy. And my Dad Fabian Keith. We were/are all family with a family reunion in heaven. We love you and miss you dearly. The Murray Family.

I had Coach Lipscomb as a PE teacher at Neal Jr. High in 1971 and 1972. He was the best! I loved him and so did everyone else! I pray for comfort and peace for his special family during these days.

I was in Coach Lip's PE class at Lowe's Grove when it was still a Junior High School. He was a wonderful coach and person. In later years I would run across him and Ms. Clara at Northgate or at the Negro League Night at the Durham Bulls game and we would chat and talk for a while. He always remembered who I was and had time to stop and talk for a while. As I got older I realized that there are people who come into your life at various times for various reasons and I know that Coach Lip was one of those people. He was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.

I met Coach Lip as we more often called him at LGJH, a great man full of joy and peace. He will be greatly missed. 'Come on Guys'

Rest in peace Coach. I always had the utmost respect for you.

So sport for the lose of this great man. Along life's way people will come into your life that leave a mark on it. This man was one of those.

Coach LIP!!!!! Such a Sweet man...Full of Wisdom...and had a Glowing and contagious smile. He will be missed. Love ya COACH!

To the Family of Mr. Lipscomb, I send my condolences. Mr. Lipscomb was my teacher at Merrick-Moore High School from 1965-1967. Mr. Lipscomb was loved by all he was a wonderful educator. He instilled skills that we would need on our journey through life. If not one way, he would instill another. Mr. Lipscomb had mercy on the girls, but o-boy on the guys. Dear family, when you get weary, just remember 'Footprints In The Sand'.

I am sorry to hear about Coach Lip. I had the pleasure of playing basketball for him at Lowes Grove Jr High back in the 80s. I remember we didn't win much and we exasperated Coach endlessly, but he never had a harsh word and was always encouraging. Made us take a lot of laps though. Glad to see he had a good long life, he deserved it. He was a good one.

To the family of Coach 'Lip' please know that he was a very compassionate man who cared a great deal about the young lives he touched. As our assistant basketball coach at NCCU we looked forward to interacting with him and got much joy out of his enthisiasm when we made great plays in practice or in the game. He pushed us during conditioning drills and still provided that soothing father figure approach when our emotions got the best of us. An Eagle to the end he will be missed. Coach, You are such a special man who entered my life in the 70's when I needed a person like you in my life while playing basketball at NCCU. I owe you for stabilizing my life and refocusing me to playing the game I loved. You made me focus on living life and I am sincerely appreciative to that. I met Coach Lip at Neal Jr High when we moved to NC in the early 70's. He was and continued to be my brother's coach throughout jr high and high school!! There wasn't a better and more honest man and he will be missed!! My sincere condolences and prayers to the family!!

The death of a loved one is hard to bear. Your heavenly father understands your pain as he too experienced the death of his only begotten son, Jesus Christ. To the family of Coach Lip, as he was affectionately known and called; I am saddened to hear of his passing. Like so many others, I too was blessed by his presence. Coach Lip loved his family and he loved his students. ALL of them. He knew all of us by name and he usually called us by our last name. As a student at Lowes Grove Jr. High in the early 80s, I appreciated his wisdom, advice and guidance. He was definitely one of a kind and his presence will be missed.

To the family of Coach Lip, Thank You for sharing him with us. He impacted so many young people with his laughter and his true compassion for young people and sports. I was blessed like so many others that God placed him in our paths. We pray that God surrounds each of you today and in the days ahead with his loving angels to bring peace and comfort. Your Dad was one of a kind and I loved him for who he was. He was there for me and my family when we needed comfort. I will never forget him or his support. Always a smile and an encouraging word.
