Gregory Chase Carter, son of Riley Bernard Carter, IV and Cassandra Murphy Carter was born in Durham, North Carolina on May 6th 1993 at Duke Medical Center. He departed this life on Friday, May 20th, 2022. Chase was christened in 1993 by Rev. McArthur Clemons, Lincoln Memorial Baptist Church, (LMBC). After his christening, he attended church with his family as a child and decided to become a member. He joined church and was baptized under the leadership of Rev. Linzie B. Atkins, III. Chase served on the Junior Usher board and also sang in the Junior Choir. He participated in many junior plays and many junior activities in the church.
He attended Durham Public Schools; Southwest Elementary and graduated from Durham School of the Arts in 2011. He was a recipient of the Jimmy and Torian Graves Memorial Scholarship in 2011. He furthered his education at The University of North Carolina Pembroke and Durham Technical Community College.
Chase worked in various industries in his adult years. He was a kind and gentle young man with a mild-mannered and welcoming personality. He always had a positive outlook on life.
Chase was preceded in death by his Aunt and Godmother, Yvette Carter-Todd.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his Mother, Cassandra Murphy Carter, Father, Riley B. Carter, IV of Durham, NC; a sister, Madison Danielle Carter, and brother Jordan Patrick Carter, both of Durham, NC; Grandparents; Deacon and Mrs. Leonidus Murphy of Durham, NC; Grandmother JoAnn Foye of Durham, NC and Grandfather, Riley B. Carter, III of Durham, NC; Two aunts, Sonia Atkinson, Raleigh, NC and Porscha Clark (Kelvin), Plano, TX; Two Uncles, Leonidus Murphy, Jr. (Carla), Charlotte, NC, Brian E. Murphy (Brigitte), Durham, NC and a host of Great-Uncles, Great-Aunts and cousins, other relatives and friends.
Visitation and funeral service will be held at Lincoln Memorial Baptist Church, 1500 S. Roxboro St., Durham, NC. on Monday, May 30, 2022, visitation with friends from 12:00 to 1:00 PM and funeral service at 1:00 PM. Burial service will be held at Beechwood Cemetery on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at 10:00 AM.
Masks are to be worn and social distancing required at all meetings with family and friends.
