Gwendolyn Ann Knight-Bowen, 74, was born on Sunday, September 17, 1950 and passed on Thursday, August 21, 2025.
"When I think of all this, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth. I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God's love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God's people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen."
Ephesians 3:14-21 NLT
Gwendolyn Bowen, but we called her Gwen, A name like a melody, soft now and then. She walked through the world with a radiant grace, A smile that could brighten the darkest of place. She loved to talk—not just to speak, But to listen deep, to lift the meek. With strangers or kin, it mattered not, She found the thread that others forgot. Her laughter danced like wind through trees, Her kindness settled hearts with ease. She held a room not with command, But with the warmth of an open hand. A cousin, a friend, a soul so rare, She gave her time, her love, her care. I'll miss you cuz.
Gwen our friendship began November 1983 when I joined NYCity Human Resources Adm. in the Office of Employment Services:TEAP where you were a fabulous, conscientious and savvy secretary. We were like sisters as we navigated life and enjoyed wonderful memories. I will miss you dearly and you are forever in my heart. I will be checking on your family Shindana, Jessie and LeShae. You were a beacon of light and joy that will ever burn. Heavenly Father comfort the loved ones and friends of Gwen as we celebrate a life well lived, for, you blessed us with her love which was the love you showered upon us through your precious vessel. Love Always, Sharon, Jameelah and George Pressley
