I never met you face to face but, we talked several times over the phone and had good laughter between us. Your kind spirit was received as inspiration just like your name James E. Scales. "The same as my dad". Pop's may your spirit live on in your children and God's grace will fill them with beautiful memories.
Minister Scales brought joy and a friendly smile with understanding. He would always call me out of the blue and let me know he was thinking about me. I am thankful he considered me worthy of his attention.
My deepest sympathies to the family of James Scales. He was my First Sergeant, and more than a leader, he was a role model. I will always remember his staunch professionalism that was matched only by his kindness and quiet courage. The world has become a smaller and darker place with the passing of his light. May God be with each of us who mourns him, and especially his family.
With sincere condolences,
A. Schroeder
Jim wasn't a huge fan of water, but came to visit us and went out in our tiny rowboat to go fishing with us in the pond that was in our back yard.... He LOVED how serene it made him feel, even though he never actually fished! It was wonderful to see his smile. He was a courageous, kind, and person of the highest integrity. He is in heaven now, and he deserves it.
It is with my most sincere heartfelt sympathies I send to the family and friends of my friend James E. (Jim) Scales. I will always remember our times as we worked very hard to make the lives of the men and women of our 916th Air Refueling Wing, at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, U.S. Air Force Reserves safe, happy and productive...You will be missed my friend!!!
Our staff will continue to keep your family in our prayers. We thank you for allowing us to serve your family.
