Coach and friend, I hope you are setting on the golden bench court side in heaven and doing what you did best. Caring and coaching kids. You will be missed. I will never forget how you welcomed me when I came to KWHS as a coach and AD. You immediately became a friend and colleague. You willingly agreed to do double duty and coached the girls and assisted me with the boys. You graciously stepped up to coach softball when we needed someone. And the amazing thing was you didn't complain and you were always smiling! You made a huge difference in so many young men and ladies lives both on and off the court and field. You will be missed! Rest in peace Coach! Thoughts and prayers for your family!
I had the honor of being in the first group of girls Coach Harper coached at KWCPS. As a team captain, he dealt with my stubbornness and opinions; teaching me a lot of valuable lessons along the way. He dealt with our shenanigans and we had a lot of laughs along the way. I don't know if he ever knew I later became a hospital leader and that those leadership skills I learned way back then helped prepare me for all the great things God had for my future. He was funny, serious, but not too serious, and truly a blessing to our entire team. We achieved more than anyone thought we were capable of and this lesson of helping people see the greatness in them has stuck with me. I continue to apply this simple but powerful lesson daily. Also, thanks to Harper, I will always know that Cameo made an entire album and know each song on that album. Thanks Harp! For those team members who know about his playlist on the ride to Hampden Sydney, if you know you know. Love you coach! May God be with your friends and family during this time and always. Sending prayers for the family. So sorry to hear about Coach Harper's passing. I wish I had known that he had been declining.. I would have loved to seen him and tell him how much he meant to us.. He was a wonderful person, coach, friend, and mentor to so many students and parents at King William high School! His love of basketball inspired our girls basketball team and then our boys basketball team! My daughter Brooke played for Coach Harper from 8th grade until she graduated in 2006. She gave everything she had to the game and to Coach Harper who inspired the team to work hard and play for the Love of the game! Under his supervision, the girls basketball team won regionals 3 years in a row. So many wonderful memories! Praying God's blessings on the family and for all of Coach Harper's students who will miss him! Thank you Coach Harper! We love you! β€οΈ
