Miles, you Michael and your family have our deepest condolences. Mother Hunter was a woman of strengh and grace. She loved her boys and raised you well. She believed in the value of education and community service. She was kind enough to open her home to me one Thanksgiving years ago when my parents were out of the country and I have never forgotten the love she extended my way. She encouraged our involvement in the NAACP and always appreciated my smile. She was Black Girl Magic before it was even a thing! She will be missed. May her light continue to shine through cherished memories. -Valerie & Peter Jackson
To the family of Mrs. Lucille Hunter: Ms. Hunter was a loyal and devoted member of the NC Ebony Society of Philatelic Events and Reflections(ESPER) of which I am Director. ESPER is an international stamp club that focuses on the contributions of African Americans and the collection of postage stamps and related materials that honor them. Mrs. Hunter was always present at our NC chapter meetings and was supportive of it's programs. Though she didn't drive, she would always find a ride with fellow stamp club member Ricky Johnson to the various meetings across the state. We will truly miss Lucille and her quiet manner and loving spirit. Our sincere and heart felt sympathy is extended to the family.Know that Lucille is resting and is now at peace.
Beatrice Cox, Director NC ESPER
AS a member of The Ebony Society Philatelic Events And Reflections, I know Ms. Hunter will be missed and remembered by us all. REST IN PEACE Ricky Johnson
I first met Ms. Hunter upon her return to NC. She was a stamp collector and a member of our stamp society. She became one of my traveling partners. We would go to shows in NC, SC, and VA. She was always ready to go to a show or an event. She was my front seat riding partner because I could always depend on her to stay awake while my back seat riders always slept. The road trips will never be the same without her. I will always remember and think of her.
The Newark NJ Branch of the NAACP extends our heartfelt condolences to the Hunter Family. Lucille was an active member of the branch for 40 plus years. She was an inspiration. Deborah Smith Gregory, President
Michael, Miles and family. Your mother was one of the best people I have ever met. Our mother's spent so much time together at NAACP events and at NJPAC watching plays. Their friendship spanned over 50 years from NJ to NC. I will miss her smile, laugher, healthcare conversations and most of all the cards with a $2 bill. Praying for comfort and peace as you mourn this loss. With love always and forever. Gerri, Darryl, Nicole and Imani.
