Sallie Lou Dawson, the last surviving child of the late Norman Lee Dawson and Audrey Beatrice Hightower Dawson, was born on Thursday, June 29, 1939, in Halifax, VA. She transitioned from this earthly life on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at 6:25 a.m. From her youth to her departure, she kept a close church association with Mount Olive Holy Church, Incorporated, 808 Lee Street, Durham, NC.
Sallie attended the Durham Public Schools and graduated from the original Hillside High School on June 2, 1957. She furthered her education at Antioch College
Philadelphia, PA, receiving a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education and Queensborough Community College, Bayside, NY, receiving an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Nursing.
Her career as a registered nurse spanned 37 years.
