Obituary For Stanley Earl Poole

Stanley E. Poole was born on March 25, 1956 in Durham, NC to the late Joe Louis Poole and Nettie C. Holt. He departed this life on Monday, December 8, 2025. Stanley was raised in Durham and educated in the Durham Public Schools. After graduation, Stanely proudly served in the United States Army from January, 1974 until December, 1976. Following his military service, he continued a life of dedication and hard work, spending 32 years as a long-distance truck driver for various companies. He was known for his strong work ethic, reliability, commitment and pride. On July 31, 2023, Stanley married the love of his life, Patricia E. Holmes. He lovingly and playfully called her his “Chocolate Bunny”, a nickname that captured the sweetness, and deep bond they shared. Stanley was preceded in death by his father, Joe Louis Poole. He leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted wife, Patricia H. Poole, his loving mother, Nettie C. Holt, his children Cortrell Elliott and Anthony Jackson, both of Durham, NC, Jamesa Burnette of Butner, NC, and James Burnette of Durham, NC. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jayleainna Hamilton, Alaineya Hamilton, Ja’Mya Kendall and Journey Justice Burnette, all who brought him great joy. Stanley’s memory will also be treasured by his sisters, Barbara Crowder and Geraldine McNeil, both of Durham, NC; and his brothers Earl McNeil, Stacy Poole, Johnny McNeil (Lashanna), and Gary McNeil, all of Durham, NC; and his godmother, Dorothy McNeil of Durham, NC. He leaves behind a host of beloved nieces, nephews, relatives and friends who will continue to honor and celebrate his life. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
