Sending my deepest sympathy to the family. Clank had a rare gift for making people laugh, and that is a legacy that will never fade. He will be missed every day, but his spirit and his jokes will stay with us forever. He's undoubtedly keeping the spirit bright wherever he is now. "O'Keishe"

I met "Jay" at Durham Tech around 1982 or 1983 and we quickly became friends. We might not talk for long periods of time but when we did it was like we had talked everyday! He will be greatly missed by me and my family who came to know him through the years. Jay I am grateful for the 40+ year friendship we had!! I will miss you dearly.
Love, Gwendolyn Jordan
Condolences to the family during this difficult time, and the days ahead. While we had no " blood ties", he/ the family was like family to me!!! We had plenty of laughter, deep conversations on a myriad of topics, sought advice from him especially when it came to Carolina playing Duke in BBπ, just his overall role as " BIG" brother to his siblings and myself was immeasurable! His time as both a Basketball player at Hillside, and his service to his country as a Marine - displayed a sense of pride, hard work and dedication of service & loyalty which was a true testament as to what leadership and being a team player was and is all about - ooooh rah! We will miss his gentleness and his soft spoken demeanor & compassion - however in the midst of it all - just know that GOD has the final say for us all - and that " every eye that's shut - doesn't mean that one is asleep"! Give Ms. Owens (mom) a HUGHE hug from us - and we will see you along with a host of other's amongst the heavens when our number is called. Spruill
