Our beloved “Big Momma” was born Dorothy Lee White to Frazier White and Daisy Lee “Momma Daisy” Mixon (nee Baldwin) on January 15, 1942, in Daphne, Alabama. Dorothy Lee was Momma Daisy’s only child, but she had two half-brothers, Eddie and Larry White from her father. Dorothy Lee learned the responsibilities of being a family woman at an early age. She attended school in Alabama then she gave birth to her first born and only daughter LaVerne “Button” then her eldest son Leonard. Her family began to grow when she met and married the late Chester Lee Davis on October 23, 1961. Out of that union came her son Stacey “Chubby,” but he honorably became father to all three. Dorothy waited tables at Daffy’s for several years until the passing of her husband. A few short years later, she gave birth to her youngest son Victor “Rahfee” then relocated to New Jersey with her daughter LaVerne and son in law Ronald McCoy where she was afforded the opportunity to begin a new life for herself and two youngest sons. Dorothy Lee also affectionately known as “Dot,” enjoyed listening to old school music and loved to dance. Even though she wasn’t the best dancer, she thought she was. She worked at a restaurant but never learned how to cook. One thing for certain, Dot was good at mixing things together at mealtime to make sure her two sons ate a good meal. She kept Chubby and Victor well dressed, and she always kept her house clean. Although Dot was a quiet woman, she loved talking to people; nobody was a stranger to her. Her personality was warm and welcoming, her smile lit up the room, her laugh was contagious, and she very rarely got upset. Dot lived her best life the way that she knew how and will be sorely missed. Dot was preceded in death by Frazier White and Daisy Lee Mixon (parents), Eddie and Larry White (half-brothers), daughter Laverne McCoy, son Stacey Davis, grandsons, Jermain McCants, and Bashir Davis. Dot left a host of family to cherish very fond memories of her, Leonard Douglas, and Victor Davis (sons) Ronald McCoy (son in law).
Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out."John 5:28, 29
