Obituary For Lynwood Larrison Little

OBITUARY Lynwood Larrison Little, Jr. Sunrise: February 18, 1951 Sunset: April 11, 2020 Lynwood was born and raised in Okahumpka, Florida to the late Elder Lynwood Larrison Little, Sr. and Altharee Little.

In 1969, he graduated from Leesburg Regional High School and was one of the first black students to graduate from a formerly all-white high school. Growing up in a country environment, with very limited forms of entertainment, Lynwood, affectionately known as “Junebug” would often make up stories to amuse his eight brothers and sisters. Boy could he spin some tall tales that kept you on the edge of your seat. Some, so funny, you laughed until your sides ached! If he had chosen a career as a writer, his books would definitely have made the Best Seller’s List. His favorite past time was spent snacking on “flour cookies”. He also had a passion for fishing.

Shortly after graduation, he moved to Paterson, NJ and later relocated to Newark, NJ. He was employed at Greystone Park Psychiatric Hospital for 46 years until his retirement in 2018. Lynwood was a Senior Human Service Technician, administering direct care to many patients who loved and respected him for the compassion he showed them.

He was thought of as being a “Gentle Giant” among his family, friends and co-workers, because of his meek and humble spirit. He gave unselfishly of himself. He never complained, because he enjoyed giving of his time and helping others.

He was united in holy matrimony to Doris Cooper, on June 4, 1983, and they were blessed with one daughter. Lynwood was preceded in death by two sisters: Margaret Clark and Celestine Jones.

He leaves to cherish precious memories: a devoted wife Doris; children: Thomas Anderson, Yashmeen Little, Dorian Little Felder (Fred), Clarissa Anderson and Katrina Anderson. His siblings: Lelia Green (Ted), Altharee Speights (Vincent), Mikel Little (Victoria), Delphena Little, Frank Little ( Denise) and Stephanie Little. One Brother-in-law: Reginald Jones, two grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
