Obituary For Perry Williams

Perry Williams, a beloved father, grandfather, companion, and friend, was born on January 9, 1961, in Newark, New Jersey, and was lovingly adopted at birth by David Hughes. On May 6, 2025, Perry departed this life, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.

A proud graduate of Montgomery High School in 1979, Perry was a man of many talents, best known for his deep passion for music and cooking. His vibrant spirit could often be found roaming the streets of Newark, Irvington, and East Orange—places that shaped his heart and filled his soul with joy. Whether he was sharing a tune, preparing a soulful meal, or enjoying a peaceful walk through his neighborhood, Perry’s presence brought warmth and light to everyone around him.

Perry leaves to cherish his memory his devoted long-term companion, Diane Williams of Newark, NJ; his loving brother, Mickey Williams of Atlanta, GA; and his treasured children: Inika Kennedy of South Carolina, Perry Kennedy of Newark, NJ, Qiana Williams of Savannah, GA, Diquain Williams of South Jersey, Camilla James of Philadelphia, PA, Perry Williams of North Carolina, and Jamillah Williams of Newark, NJ. He also leaves behind 14 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and a host of extended family, friends, and loved ones who will miss him dearly.

Perry’s love was steady, his laughter contagious, and his spirit unforgettable. Though he may be gone from our sight, he will never be gone from our hearts.
