Obituary For Lydia Ann Jefferson

Lydia Ann Jefferson 68 of Spartanburg, South Carolina passed away quietly on February 17, 2023 surrounded by her loved ones.

Lydia, affectionately known as Sam, Lala, Ann, and Aunt Libby was born on March 26, 1954 to the late Robert and Frances (Miller) Jefferson. In Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where she graduated from Girls Catholic High School.

She later relocated to South Carolina where she earned her nursing certification and worked for White Oak Manor for ten years.

In 1988, she moved her family to Sacramento, California where she continued her career and earned her degree in Early Childhood Education from American River College. With a calling on her life and her love for Christ, she continued her education at Trinity Life Bible College earning her degree in Theology. As a servant of the ministry Lydia enjoyed reading the word of God, holding Bible study with her neighbors as well as preparing elaborate meals for them. She was a faithful prayer warrior for her family and friends.

As a gifted and passionate writer, Lydia’s love of words allowed her to create amazing stories that would challenge the average intellect beyond the imagination. She loved drawing, with a respect for performing arts and was an accomplished ballet, jazz and tap dancer in her youth. A true original diva who loved fashion and interior design with her signature colors of reds and golds embracing the Native American culture of her ancestors.

Lydia was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt. She enjoyed cooking grand meals for the holidays and spending time with her family.

She leaves to cherish her memory three children, Jon Jefferson of California; Zsara Joseph (Darren) of, South Carolina; Miguel Jefferson (Maggie) of Sacramento, California. Three grandsons, Mario, KaVon, Darrius; two great-grandchildren Brooklynn and Gianni.

She is survived by her siblings Diane Harper (John) of SC, Rhona Ingram of SC, Kathleen Geiger of Washington DC, Colette Jefferson of CA, Von (Lisa) Jefferson of SC, Yvette Futrell of SC, Tioka Ingram (Israel) of SC, her uncle George Miller of Pennsylvania, a brother-in-law Edward Bedenbaugh Jr. and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Frances (Miller) Jefferson, her sister Karen Bedenbaugh, and her two nephews Edward Lawrence Bedenbaugh III and Aktio Razon Portee.

Lydia Ann Jefferson was a woman who loved life, her family but most of all her Heavenly Father Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Happy birthday in Heaven! It's hard to describe the pain I experience every year on our birthday, knowing another year has passed and you are not here to celebrate by my side. I can't believe you would be 70,and I am now 56. You and I were blessed to have our birthday bond. The memory of our last birthday celebration is so vivid. It was also tough, knowing it would be the last time we would celebrate our special day together. I love and miss you and will see you again someday. Your little sister Doobie

Missing you my beautiful sister. Tell Mommy, our sister Karen and our other loved ones hello and I love them. I have faith in God that I will see you soon. Save a place for me. Love your Doo-bunny

My beautiful sister. Today I feel particularly emotional because it is our birthday. Although you are no longer with me; my memories of you are still in my prayers, heart and life. I love you and I can't wait to hug you again one day. Though you are in Heaven, near or far, you're close to my heart. I said goodbye with tears;God received you with open arms and a smile. Our hearts are heavy. We know you're free from the pain you experienced. The worst feeling I have is when I go into your room and I can't see you. We spent countless days and nights with each other. Today I remember all of the wonderful birthdays we had together. I miss you beyond words sister. You always had the amazing gift of being a prayer warrior. This was how you taught me to simplify any problem that appeared in my life. Happy birthday in Heaven. Tell Mother I love and miss her. Love your Doobunny.

My dear sweet, beautiful sister. It has been a few weeks since you went to your Heavenly home and joined our mother and other loved ones. I have been in deep thought about you. I miss your presence in the house with us. I miss seeing your beautiful face and talking to you.We miss you so much. I never thought in a million years that I would lose our mother and another sister in such close proximity to one another; God had a plan. You were truly a special soul. You did what God told you to do. You pursued your dreams and gave whatever you had unconditionally. The night you went to Heaven all I did was cry and pray. I have not lost my faith in God, nor did I question his decision. My beautiful sister, I miss you so much. You will always be in my heart and memories. Whenever I look back on my life and recall our happy moments, it will always bring a smile to my face because I know that you were a part of it. I never knew what I miss you was until I looked for you in the room you slept in and you were nowhere to be found. I didn't even think I would say goodbye to you first. You remained strong and vibrant when your illness entered its last stage. I admire your resolve to let your sickness weigh you down. We miss you a lot. Loving sister, you don't have to suffer any more. No more doctors, hospital, drips and blood being drawn. Now you are happy and healthier. You are an angel. We shared an unbreakable bond. Your love was a blessing. Every day gets difficult for me as our birthday is fast approaching. If someone asked me how would I describe you, I would say.. a prayer warrior, worshipper of God, very intellectual, creative, loving, compassionate , organized, independent and many more. I will always be your Doo-bunny . I have faith that I will see mother, you and the rest of our loved ones soon. I love you always. Your sister...Yvette (Doobie)

To my nephew Jon (Woogie), niece Zsara and nephew Miguel; your mother was an incredible woman who I will miss dearly. I will miss her warm smile and her prayers and encouraging words to me. I am going to miss our birthday celebration together. Please remember how much she loves you. She always told me stories about all of you and how proud she was of your accomplishments. Please know that I love you just as much as I love your mother, and I am a phone call away. It breaks my heart that you are going through this; lean on God in your time of sorrow. It's never easy losing your mother, as you were supportive of us when our mother passed away. Our love for God and our mothers will help keep us strong. My sister had a spiritual gift of hospitality. She never expected payment for anything that she did from her heart.Your mother found the best contentment in her life by sharing God's Word, praying for everyone and cooking foods for family and friends. The extent of her love and generosity for others is remarkable. Her self-giving care for the people in her community where she lived and for her family was patterned after the self-giving love of Christ. Your mother was obedient to God. I truly believe that God chose your mother; our sister because she knew and understood her power to use it for His glory. We need to appreciate her life. Your mother had a deep desire to serve God the right way. The way she lived her life showed us that our loved one was determined to make a commitment to Christ. Her actions indicated her eagerness to provide hospitality. Your mother's life is a model for Christian leadership, influence, and godly living. My sister's smile and laughter were truly infectious. Family, as we mourn and grieve the loss of our beloved, let's remember Lydia's great legacy and inspiration to remind us why generosity is so important. We can learn a lot from her life and ministry. I love you Jon, Zsara and Miguel. Aunt Doobie

Zsara, Woogie and Miguel, I am very sorry for your loss. Condolences from Marla and Uncle Boo🙏🏾

Aunt Lydia these are extremely hard words to put down, how does anyone say goodbye to a loved family member to their aunty. Well I won't I will just say I know I will see you later one day I say that easier and happier. I will always have our memories and laughs along with life lessons in my heart and memories. I'll remember Sunday dinners and and jokes about people on the tv and I'll always remember QUIEEEET that you would yell when we would get too loud at night lol.
