Dr. Loretta Germany Erses passed away peacefully on April 14, 2025, at Harbor Grace Hospice in Atlanta, Georgia, at the age of 68. Born on August 15, 1956—her beloved mother Sylvia Nelson Germany’s birthday—Loretta lived a life marked by service, strength, and compassion.
The daughter of Sylvia Nelson Germany and Marion Germany, Loretta was raised in Hephzibah, Georgia, where she was baptized at an early age at Johnson Grove Baptist Church. As a child of faith, she sang in the church choir and remained grounded in the values of love and community throughout her life.
Loretta was educated in the Richmond County School System, where she excelled academically and athletically as a star on the track team, graduating in 1974. In 1975, she enlisted in the United States Air Force and proudly served her country for 21 years. She retired in 1996 with the rank of E4, having specialized in Physical Therapy as a Service Craftsman.
She was formerly married to Hakan Erses and touched many lives with her wisdom, care, and perseverance. Loretta was preceded in death by her mother, Sylvia Nelson Germany; her sister, Ruby Pearl Moss; and her brother, Willie Marion Germany Sr.
She is lovingly remembered by her brother, Donald Germany of Conyers and Hephzibah, Georgia; sisters Deborah Germany Rainey and Lenora Germany, both of Hephzibah, Georgia; six nephews; four nieces; and a host of extended family, friends, and neighbors who will miss her deeply.
Private Service arrangements will be held by the family at a later date

My sincere sympathies to the Germany & Erses families. I praise God for allowing our paths to cross as classmates from Floyd Graham E.S. to Hephzibah H.S. I'll always remember her big wide beautiful smile! She was smart, determined, kind and brought so much spirit to the HHS Cheerleader's Squad, sports teams, & students as well. Rest in peace, my Sister-in-the-faith! You fought the good fight of faith & now Rest-in-Peace. Melane Myles Threats
