Cindy Asher, 69, of Elephant Butte, NM passed away November 14, 2023 with her husband, both sons, daughter-in-law, and three granddaughters at her side.
The third of six children, Cindy was born in Monterey, CA on December 3, 1953.
In 1977, Cindy moved to Albuquerque, NM, where she met Douglas Asher. The two were married on October 25, 1985. The couple lived in Albuquerque for 31 years and raised two children, David and Steven. The family was actively involved in Sangre de Cristo Catholic Church both sons as altar servers. Cindy and Doug taught church classes for over 26 years. They began teaching First Communion classes at Sangre de Cristo and later at John XXIII Catholic Church. They moved to Elephant Butte in 2016 and continued to teach at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.
After the move, Cindy and Douglas were parishioners and volunteers at Our Lady of Perpetual Help. Cindy’s life was defined by service to God, her family, and her community and she could not have been a better reflection of the namesake of their new church. She also volunteered at the local NM Veterans Home and Truth or Consequences Senior Center. She was never still and spent any spare minute caring for family, volunteering for her church or community, or helping friends. She rarely took time for herself and instead took pleasure from helping those around her.
Cindy very much enjoyed visiting and being visited by her three granddaughters and there was rarely a single day when one of them didn’t call or FaceTime her to talk about their day or ask for help on homework. The connection between her and the girls was unbelievable, and they’ll remember her unconditional love for the rest of their lives.
Cindy is survived by her husband Douglas Asher; children: Steven Asher, David Asher and wife Lacey; three grandchildren: Christine Asher, Lily Asher, and Evelyn Asher. She is also survived by her siblings: Lucy Flores, Frank Favaloro, Joseph Favaloro, Terry Hodges and husband Hal, and Jimmy Favaloro and wife Leilani.
Services will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church (515 N Date St, Truth or Consequences, NM 87901) starting with a Rosary on Sunday, November 26, 2023 at 5:00 PM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, November 27, 2023 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Michael Williams officiating. Cindy will be laid to rest at Vista Memory Gardens Cemetery.

We first met Cindy when she was dating Doug. He had the first house in the neighborhood and we had the second one across the street. Cindy always made special treats for the neighborhood kids at Halloween and Christmas. Even our daughter's birthday got a visit from Cindy. She was everyone's best friend and our whole neighborhood will remember Cindy. Larry and Debbie...Jennifer and Kalysta.

My husband and I first met Cindy in 2018 at the Veterans Home as volunteers. She was always smiling, thoughtful and helpful. We knew what a loving soul she was. We will miss her.
Life can be very trying and difficult at times, but for me all that stuff pales in comparison to losing a loved one. Losing loved ones is by far the hardiest thing I've ever had to go threw. They take a piece of your heart leaving a void that you spend the rest of your life trying to fill or maybe bridge, but never quite seceding.
I'm, we're going to miss you Sis, You've taken such a large piece of ours that are Lives will never be the same with out You.
With all our Love, Be with God, Joseph
Cindy was such a beautiful soul. I loved working with her the past 2 years. We were so grateful for her. The senior center will not be the same. My condolences to her husband, her boys and her beautiful grandchildren.
Cindy was always nice and thoughtful with her hospitality every time I saw her and Doug, she was a huge part of the Asher gang when we visited them. We will miss her, especially when we get together with Doug. We are truly saddened and our prayers are and continue to be with Cindy, Doug and family.
I remember the first time I met My Wife's Sister Cindy. She and Doug drove a Cadillac out from Albuquerque with their Dog. She was always nice to me even when I snored during church when we visited Doug, Cindy and the kids. I will definitely miss Cindy Hal Hodges
Valerie and I will miss seeing Cindy when we pick up our meals on wheels on Wednesday. She was always delightful to talk with. We'll miss her.
