In her early years, she attended Mount Sinai School in Tchula, MS. As she realized the need for Christ at a young age, she joined Jerusalem Baptist Church in Tchula, MS, where she served as a dedicated and long-standing member.
Although her life included many interests, cooking, baking, spending quality time with family and serving as a member on the decorating committee of her church topped the list.
Both her father George Brown, and longtime companion, Rufus Roach, preceded her in death.
Left to cherish her memory are: her mother, Rosie Lee Young of Tchula, MS; four sons, Johnny (Amanda) Barrett of Rockford, IL, Micheal Barrett of Des Moines, IA, Rufus (Chentail) Barrett of Atlanta, GA, Roger Barrett of St Louis, MO, and a grandson, Raphael Barrett of St. Louis, MO, and a grandson, Raphael Barrett of Tchula, MS, whom she raised as her own; three daughters, Debora Barrett of Dallas, GA, LaTonya Barrett of Marietta, GA and Twina Barrett of Rockford, IL, along with one honorary daughter, Constance Head, Tchula, MS; one brother, Robert Lee Brown of Detroit, MI; thirteen grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
You were my biggest cheerleader, my best friend, my dear sweet mother. You left a hole where my heart use to be. The day you died , part of me died with you. I'll always love and miss you. RIP MOM
Mama Barrett, was a amazing woman and I'm glad I had the pleasure of meeting her. MB, Bunny & Roger(my brothers) I'm so sorry you lost a great woman in your life. Just know that I'm here for you, wish I could've made it there to her home going. I love you my brothers, and just know you will get through this.
Roger it seems like just yesterday when you would ask me to spend the night over your house and to bring the Nintendo with me. The next day your mother would have breakfast ready for us but I truly remember later on she would have those neck bones and pinto beans. I actually credit your mother with making that my favorite meal. She was always so kind to me and what truly let me know that Ms. Rosie was good person is that my grandmother let me spend the night with you all. She would definitely not just trust me to stay with just anyone. Ms. Rosie Barrett you are greatly missed. To Roger and the entire Barrett family you have my deepest condolences.
Sincerely Anthony L. Russell
