Mr. Reginald Bernard Boone was born on September 9, 1968, in Albany, Ga. to Ms. Linda Boone and Mr. Amos Bell Sr. He was educated in the Dougherty County School System and graduated from Monroe High School in 1986, where he proudly represented his school on the basketball court. Reginald continued his academic journey at Oral Roberts University and Tennessee State University. Raised in a Christian home, he formed a deep and personal relationship with God early in life—one that guided him throughout his adult years. His faith remained a constant source of strength and direction, and basketball remained a lifelong passion.
Reginald dedicated his life to coaching, leaving a lasting legacy across multiple organizations and communities. He made a profound impact within the Dougherty County and Lee County School Systems, the Boys and Girls Club, Open Arms Inc., ARC, and the City of Albany Recreation and Parks Department. His passion for developing young athletes also led him to create and coach his own AAU basketball team, the Bearcats, where he continued to inspire excellence both on and off the court.
Reginald’s only child, Jordan Boone (born August 18, 2008), was his greatest accomplishment—the bond they shared was one of deep friendship, loyalty, and unconditional love. Of all the titles Reginald held in life, “father” was the one he cherished most. He carried that role with immense pride, purpose, and joy, calling it his life’s most meaningful and fulfilling work.
He was proceeded in death by a maternal grandmother, Evelyn Casey Boone, a maternal grandfather Linsey Boone Sr, a paternal grandmother Minnie Bell, an aunt, Inez Hagins, and uncles, David Boone, Linsey Boone Jr., Walter Boone Sr., Robert Lee Boone, Isaiah Boone, and Kurt Jackson.
He leaves to mourn his mother Ms. Linda Boone, His father Amos Bell Sr. (Shirlene) his son Jordan Boone, a special niece Kennedy Boone, his significant other Cappola Buchannon, his brothers, Derrick Boone (Kimberly), Amos Bell Jr (Rydeidra), Michael Bell (Shaeyna), a sister Monica Bell Robison and a host of Aunts, Uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Reginald’s consistent words of encouragement, affirmations, and thoughtful guidance earned him the deep respect and admiration of his colleagues and friends. His steadfast commitment, mentorship, and support profoundly influenced the lives of his students, athletes, and teammates. To his family, he was cherished for his wit, integrity, strength of character, and quiet grace. On June 12, 2025, Reginald was called to his eternal rest, as God, in His divine wisdom, welcomed him home.

I'm so sorry for your loss. My continued prayers are with the family. May God give you strength that surpasses all understanding.
To the family I send my deepest and most sincere condolences. I am praying for peace and comfort for you all in the days ahead. Coach, this is such a hard pill to swallow. Who would have thought I'd be writing words of comfort on your behalf? You were someone who prided yourself in athletics, full of life, and young at heart. It feels like just yesterday-about 4 weeks ago during Field Day-we were laughing and talking. I never imagined that would be one of our last conversations. Things will never be the same at 3125 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. Boone, affectionately known as the "Gentle Giant", thank you for your unwavering time, support, and commitment you poured into our babies at the Mountain Top (Mlk Jr. Elem. School ). We lost a rare gem. Your presence, your smile, your laughter and your spirit will be missed dearly. Rest well, Coach. ~DOC B~

My Deepest Condolences to the Family. Rest in Peace.
I met Coach Boone when my now 25 year old son was 6. My son played basketball at Live Oak. I instantly recognized the integrity and credibility of Coach Boone. He and I stayed friends all these years. I always supported his coaching efforts. He was absolutely incredible in his desire and his efforts to get young men and women focused on life and sports. He is credited with a lot of young minds going to college and being successful adults. I loved Coach Boone. An excellent man and human being. He will be missed.
I will really miss Coach Boone. He was one of the kindest educator I have ever worked with. He was a great PE coach and was loved by everyone at our school. I always teased him about being an Alabama fan but he took it in stride. He just always shook his head when he saw me coming in my Georgia attire. Rest in peace Coach and Roll Tide.
Praying for the family. May his soul rest in peace
