It is with a very heavy heart that I acknowledge the transition of this Extremely Exceptional JT Barber Biology Instructor. No-nonsense, witty, gifted educator who made difficult tasks sometimes manageable (dissection). Her son was her identical twin Musically: I was a singer/ performer in New Bern NC ' s 300 anniversary Choir/Orchestra than he Masterfully Conducted!! Rest in power and peace Mrs. Catherine Saunders Moore. I will be forever grateful for your support, your guidance, your encouragement, and the opportunities you afforded your physical science and biology student at J. T. Barber High School. In a time of segregation, you took us in your car to regional science competitions and helped me participate in the National Science Foundation summer program in Greensboro NC. You are among the best and I am truly saddened by your passing. Go gently into the night, and God speed.

My deepest condolences to the Saunders Moore family. I have never forgotten her over the years. She made a lasting impact on my life. I still talk about Ms. CJ Saunders as she was known to me because she was the best PE teacher at Georgetown High School. She didn't laugh often but with the group of girls that were in my class, she had no choice but to crack her side laughing because we did some crazy things. I will always be grateful for Ms. Catherine's invitation to her home for Christmas dinner the year when both my mother and younger brother passed to eternal life, and I was in our New Bern home alone. I left my frozen turkey dinner in the fridge and enjoyed the company of other friends and her family for years afterward during the holiday season.
