George Hackney, 88 of Arapahoe answered the call for eternal rest on Sunday, April 6, 2025.
Funeral services will be held at Piney Grove Church of Christ DOC Church, 1:00 PM, Thursday, April 17, 2025. Interment will follow in Piney Grove Church of Christ DOC Church Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah Hackney of the home; five sons, Johnnie Mack Hackney, Arapahoe, Larry Hackney, New Bern, Ricky Hackney, Goldsboro, Kenneth Hackney, New Bern and George Hackney III, Ernul; two daughters, Cathy Wilson, Havelock and Sarah Venable, Florida; brother, Robert Hackney, Arapahoe; two sisters, Mary Alice Taylor and Jeanette Nelson, New Bern; thirteen grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren.
