My Aunt Marie ... always played with me in the hallway of MaMa and DaDda's home. We would bounce balls and hit balloons in that hallway space. She was the first Black woman opera singer, I thought, that I knew. Melodious and engaging. Quick-witted, hard-working, and the best fried chicken cooker on this side and the other side of the Mississippi. I will always have fond memories of my Aunt Marie. Love always...

I remember staying with the family as a little girl, and as a teenager, working in tobacco with her. I will never forget the milestones in my life that Cousin Marie and the family celebrated. She was such a positive force and role model. I will greatly miss her. Please know that all of you are in my thoughts and prayers.
