Ms. Lottie was very special to our family in Durham. She had a wonderful way of keeping in touch with us after she went to live with her family in Havelock. When we had our first son 15 years ago we knew we wanted him to be cared for by someone who felt like part of the family and would provide nurturing yet firm love in a home daycare. We looked no further after we were connected with Ms. Lottie by a church member. We have such fond memories of both our boys and the whole family spending time with Ms. Lottie and the other children. As they grew up they would love seeing her at church for big hugs, her warm smile and always encouragement. The Diggs Family is saddened by this loss and sends our deepest sympathies. You are in our thoughts and prayers and we hope you are comforted as we are by the many memories you shared.
To the entire Hayes family, deepest condolences during this time of loss. The old folks say let the life you lead speak for you! She spoke through action from civil rights to just kind words of encouragement and wisdom.Greatly appreciate you sharing her with myself and many more over the years. The Civil Rights Workers reunion has lost yet another pillar of the foundation. Prayers of comfort family and know that many are with you, Sister Lottie Hayes rest in Peace and job well done. I will never forget your encouraging words after my dad passed and even the continued words of encouragent that you would often leave on LinkedIn even after moving away. To the family of my dear friend Lottie, From the day I met her over fifty years ago, our friendship was a sisterhood. The many years of working together at Durham College in Durham, NC was a blessing for both of us. Lottie was talented in many ways and a well-known advocate in the Civil Rights movement in the Durham community. We missed her when she returned home to live and will miss our communication with her. You have our sympathy, Constance Sartor Walker & Rev. Frank Walker
On behalf of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, Our deepest condolences to the family, sister Lottie was a great woman of God with a deep affection and dedication for for the well being of every citizen in her community. I am especially blessed to have known her, she is now in the presence of our Lord and Savior where there is joy forever more, And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed [are] the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them. (Revelation 14:13, KJV) We pray that God will give you peace and comfort during your time of grief. Rev. Dr. Marion B. George, New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, Havelock NC
To the Hayes Family. I was privileged to shepherd Sister Hayes while I served as Pastor at Union Baptist Church. She was such a joy to be around. I used to kid her by saying the folk from down east say they are from Havelock when they are either from Harlow or North Harlow. My thoughts and prayers are extended to you during your time of bereavement. May you be comforted by God's Presence, Power, and Promises during your time of loss.
Pastor Kenneth Hammond Durham N.C.
