Owen N. Allen, Jr. (Butch) age 74 of New Bern, N.C. passed away of a sudden heart attack on Dec. 8, 2022. Owen was predeceased by his wife Shirley J. and his parents , Owen N. and Virginia G. Allen Of New Bern. He is survived by his son Christopher (Jackie), grandchildren Jacob and Ryan of Kernersville, N.C., his brothers, John(Shirley R.), Lee (John M.(d) ), Avon(Marie(d) ), Gary (Tina); Sisters: Eva Haynes (Frank(d) ), Darlene and Delia Creech (Paul). Scores of nephews, nieces, cousins, and their husbands and wives. Owen, Jr. grew up in and around New Bern, a member of the local Salvation Army Corps where his love for music and playing the drums began. He would later become a member of a local band and make a recording as well as become a guitarist and song writer. Owen was a former staff Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force, during which time he met Shirley Gonzales of Bexar, TX. They married and he left the military and moved back home to New Bern, working for a time at Barbour Boat Works, then signing on for a career at NADEP, Cherry Point. His family will miss his wit and humor, his love for cats and airplanes, tracking storms and family gatherings. Shall Owen and Shirley "Dance till the end of Love..." Graveside service to be held Saturday, Jan. 28th at 1P. M. at Greenleaf Memorial Park 900 River Road, New Bern, N.C.

I knew Owen when I came down from Minnesota. I was 15 and Came down to visit my sister whose husband was at Camp Lejune. We went to a bar one night and listened to the Hunts For Lunch Bunch. We were friends forever after that.Karen
