Payton Smith Jr.,86, of Cove City, North Carolina entered into eternal rest Friday, March 20, 2026.
Visitation and Viewing will be held at Oscar's Memorial Chapel 4:00 PM Friday, March 27, 2026 and at 5:00 PM King Solomon #1 Masonic Ritualistic Rites will be conducted.
His Service is 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 28, 2026 at Mt. Calvary M. B. Church 509 Carroll St., New Bern. The Entombment will follow at Greenleaf Memorial Park Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Smith, Cove City, NC; three sons, Kenneth Smith (Kim), Burlington, NJ, Wayne Smith, Las Vegas, NV (Taylor) and Payton Smith III of Colorado Spring, CO; two brothers, Tommy Smith (Brenda) Atlanta, TX and Harold Smith, New York, NY; two sisters, Betty Richburg, Florida and Prenietha Barbour (James); seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

My heart felt condolences is to Deac's family.This man has preached his own funeral by the way he lived. He treated me the same from my 1st day at Mt. Calvary to his last day at Mt. Calvary M.B. Church.
