We were in Graduate School together and became very close - when her health declined - she moved back home and we slowly lost touch. I am heartbroken - as Renee was a jewel. May all your beautiful early and older memories of Renée provide comfort now and always. Renée accomplished many things in her life that were planned and unplanned. In high school, I remember her gifted intelligence, academic accomplishments, stylish and fashion-forward dressing, athletic prowess, and pleasant personality.

Her willingness to share with others about her multiple sclerosis experiences spoke volumes about her caring ways and compassion. She served and volunteered - meaningfully and untraditionally. Without her knowing, she undoubtedly helped and inspired many individuals and families by her presence, tenacity, and openness.

As Renée reached the beyond, know she has good company, runs a marathon, laughs hard, exists pain free, and surely puts a spin on that tennis serve! It was an honor and privilege to play on the New Bern High School tennis team with Renée as our leader and No. 1 singles and doubles player.

Some people are always remembered. Renée is one of them.🌺 God blesses her.🙏🏾
