Robert & I met at Ft. Bragg in February 1969. We hit it off immediately and developed a brotherly relationship. This friendship carried us through some difficult times from Bragg; Ft. Monmouth, NJ; Ft. Leonard Wood, MO; & Ft. Gordon, GA. Near the end of our first year of service, we received orders for Vietnam & although we were stationed @ different bases we visited each other occasionally. After returning to the states we continued to visitβI was stationed in Colorado and he in Kansas. After service he settled in his hometown of New Bern and my family relocated to Charlotte. We did not see each other as often as we would have liked, but our strong bond continued and our fond memories and experiences will never be forgotten. I will miss my dear friend. Genell and I will keep Chris & the family in our thoughts & prayers.
My Deepest Sympathy to you and the family. Clara Slade and family.
