I had the pleasure of working with Roderick at North Duplin High School. He came there as a substitute teacher, while he was working on his degree. He was always so willing to help. The students loved him and respected him. I always enjoyed conversations with him when he would stop by my office. He was a kind gentle soul. I know he thought a lot of me and I thought a lot of him as well. I was so saddened to hear of his passing. There is no doubt he is reunited with his wife in Heaven. Prayers....
Roderick was a great humble man so glad to have know him. RIP

Prayers for the family. Mr Merritt and I worked together at Duplin county schools. This makes me very sad to learn of his passing. He valued education and his students. He was a very dedicated teacher. My husband and I only recently ran into him at a restaurant in Warsaw and enjoyed visiting with him.
Roderick was married to my cousin whom he adored. I rember him doing all those little special things to bring her comfort and joy from cooking to buying her clothes and matching jewelry. He simply adored her. I had the opportunity to work with him at North Dublin School were he touched the lives of many young people offering his sound advice with a soft yet convincing voice followed by that detailed smile ๐. He found friendship after her transition and always treated the ladies that crossed his path at work church or personal life with dignity and respect. He leaves an impactful memories in the lives of all who know him thru wisdom words or music. I pray heaven receives what we relinquish into the loving arms of an all wise GOD. Humbly submitted Elder Theresa Tann.
