Obituary For Samuel D. Lewis 'Say-J' Lewis
Samuel 'Say-J' D. Lewis, 87, formerly of the James City Community, passed November 22, 2025 at his home in Jacksonville, FL.
A service was held November 29, 2025, at Impact Church, Jacksonville, FL with Bishop Ronald Scott of New Bern officiating. The interment was held at Greenlawn Cemetery, Jacksonville, FL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Nellie Bell Pegues Lewis.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Ann Lewis of the home; daughters, Terri Annette Rudd of Lawrenceville, GA and Hattie Mansfield of New Bern; stepdaughters, Natalie Gray and Tina Bristol and their children, of Jacksonville, FL; grandson, James Mansfield of New Bern; three granddaughters, Dr. Jasmine Rudd and Robin Rudd, both of CT and Patrice Sayaphet of Lawrenceville, GA.

I'll miss the times we had together here in New Bern and in Florida. Getting together to go out and have lunch and then going back home to watch movies. It was a pleasure having you in my life and I appreciate all the support that you gave my mom and I. Between the two of us you and your wife never missed any of our graduations that alone meant a lot to me. Until we meet again rest peacefully grandfather. Your grandson James Mansfield.
