The 1st time I was introduced to you Mrs Valery, it was the sound of you that captured my attention towards you... Vibration of rhythmic sounds Resonated within me... even now as you lay peacefully, and quietly your heavenly melodic heart sound vibrates the room and moves me... not prepared for what I was about to hear, as they passed the mic through the audience to engage and shift the atmosphere... there were many beautiful voices lifting up the room... but Yours was the one that lit up and magnified the spirit of the room... Words cannot express the deep sorrow I feel for the pasting of my niece Valery Joy. Although we know that it is better to be absent from the body and be present with the Lord, I will miss her smiling face, her joyous laugher, her comforting spirit and her willingness to be present for others. The story I am sharing is a testament to her sweet character. When Valery was a young girl, she so graciously accepted an invitation to interrupt her life in NC and come to live in Rome, NY. She accepted this invitation to stay a short while with me and Tammy while her uncle was reassigned overseas by the military. The time period began as a few weeks, then turned into a couple of months, which ended up being eight months. It was Valery, Tammy and I living in Rome, NY. One day I asked Valery if she would like to learn to play the piano. We all know that the Fraizer family are all songbirds. Whenever they are gathered, singing and music happens. So, when I brought up piano lessons, of course Valery agreed and we started our piano lessons. I say we, because Valery convinced me to take lessons too. We did it together under the guides of the pastor's wife who was our teacher. Our little family loved, laughed, played and prayed together in Rome, NY. This story is an example of Valery's unselfish love and kindness without an expectation of a return. We became a family... Valery Joy, my niece, became my daughter! Love you!!

My cousin Valery always brought the sunlight no matter where she was. She could be at a Havelock High School football game, WalMart, the bank, or at my parents' house, and you feel her caring and love. She brought so much comfort to my family and me when she sung at the funeral of both my parents. Her angelic voice was the sunshine that eased our grief. My cousin was truly special and she shared that gift with everyone that she met. I (we) will forever remember and cherish you Valery.

Valery was my cousin and classmate and truly a beautiful person I wish I had got to see her before God called her home.

Valery and I have been the best of friends since 1977 when we were roommates at Fayetteville State University. We met on August 17, 1977 while we were checking into our dormitory, Joyner Hall. We remained the best of friends for nearly 49 years. After I was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 2013. She would drive me and my sister, Julia Squires, to most of my appointments at Duke Movement Disorder Clinic in Durham NC. I was in her wedding when she married the love of life, James C. Kelley. She asked me to be one of her daughter, JaVa Kelley's Godmothers, which means so much to me. On Monday, February 9, 2026, the day of her transitioning, we had been texting each other. I had no idea that would be the last time I communicated with her! To be absent from the body and present with the Lord. She has completed her mission here on earth and resting in the arms of Jesus! know she will be singing in the heavenly choir. She was a very special Angel while here on earth. I definitely miss her. Her radiant smile brightened our horizons. She was an absolute joy. During the latter years of Daddy's earthly journey, Valery visited him. During the visitation, she thanked him for availing his video-recording service at events hosted or sponsored by her; she also sang to and prayed with him. Moreover, Valery served on the 2022 Fraizer Family Reunion Committee. She organized the talent show for our first dinner gala and was a participant in the show with her son, Chris. Their duets were showstopping. Time nor space permits the many accolades about our dear beloved, Valery, who will be sorely missed. We had the honor and privilege of caring for the Kelleys through their devastating journey with cancer. They traveled this road with dignity and grace. Unfortunately this ended too soon. My greatest memory of Valery was hearing her incredible soulful and moving voice as she captivated her audience with song! Her voice was a gift to the world! We will miss her voice here on Earth, but now it's Heaven's gain! That voice has joined the chorus of the angels. I can only imagine that Valery is singing with the angels in the presence of God.
