Virginia JoAnn Gaddy had a big heart and a generous spirit to help and comfort others. I enjoyed her friendship and hospitality when I visited her home or St. Mark A.M.E. Zion Church in New Bern, NC. I will miss her motherly advice, generous spirit, humorous stories, hearty laugh, and a big smile. She was a strong Christian woman of faith loved and respected by her family people of all ages, black and white. Virginia Ann Gaddy was known as a teacher, peacemaker, advisor to many, and matriarch of the Brock and Butler families. She loved and shared with others her time, talents, and resources. JoAnn had a missionaries heart and a willingness to serve. Her work is done here on this earth. Saying goodby to someone we love is heartbreaking. May, the comfort of friends, loved ones, and the Holy Spirit get you through these difficult days, months, and years without her. May she rest in sweet peace until that glorious getting-up morning. When the troubles of this world are over, we will sing and shout Hallelujah in the heavenly promised land.
