He is survived by his, wife, Charlotte Smith, Havelock, NC; mother, Shirley Lane Smith Erwin, NC; two sons, Walter Laverne Smith, II, and Maurice Vincent; three daughters, Valencia Smith, Dawnetta Price Allen (Shay), Adonica Bryant; brothers, Tarence Smith (Virginia), Wayland Smith, Orlando Smith, Clayton; sister, Tracy Smith; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
