With deep love and remembrance, we honor the life of Lynwood Garrett, a loving father, cherished son, beloved brother, influential uncle, and treasured friend. Born on March 28, 1957, on his mother’s birthday, Lynwood was doubly celebrated as a gift from God, the only son born to his parents, Louis and Pearlie Lee (Honey) Garrett, in their later years. They dearly loved him and treasured his presence, and that bond shaped the foundation of his life and values.
Lynwood was the proud father of five children, whom he loved fiercely and without reservation: Favian Garrett (Jacquelyn), Thadius Garrett, Anastasia Horne (Tavares), Lynwood Garrett Jr., and Carlos Smith. His absence will be a tangible factor of longing and sweet memories every remaining day of their lives.
He also leaves sweet memories with nine beloved grandchildren—Alexandria, Gianna, Addison, Aulrhianna, Rhyley, Jaidon, Zhian, Aija, and Thatcher—each an individual source of joy and pride for their “Grand daddy”.
He leaves treasured memories with his devoted nephew and brother of heart, Larry Garrett, his niece and sister of heart, Sharon Williams (Gerald). He also leaves to cherish the memory of his presence in this life, “Added Sisters and Brothers”, Emma Gilbert, Pauline Bowers, Elmira Bowers-Long, Jacqueline Taylor (Brad), David, and Jamme Bowers.
Lynwood played a meaningful and lasting role in the lives of his nieces and nephews, guiding them with strength, blunt honesty, and high expectations. Too many to name and too precious to be forgotten, Angela Lettinhand, Edmund Garrett, Shedrick (Ron) Brown, Roosevelt (Bodene) Brown, many cousins and friends were also dear to his heart and ever-present in his life.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Louis and Pearlie Lee (Honey) Garrett; his sisters, Carrie Godwin and Mary L. Smith; and his beloved son, Thadius Garrett.

Continually praying for the family for this tremendous loss. One thing I've known about my Uncle Lynwood is consistency. He has been the same since I've known him. I've always known him to have unconditional love for his nieces and nephews but most of all the way he loved his children (Favian, Thad, and Anastasia) is a love that should be studied and mimicked. I am truly going to miss you Uncle Lynwood. May you rest in God's arms until we meet again.
I am so sorry for your loss. I had the privilege of working with Lynwood one summer when I was about 14 or 15 at Malone High School. On those really hot days, we would always seem to find a nice air-conditioned room to work in—at least until Mr. Shield came looking for us. Lynwood was always kind and funny, and even after I graduated, whenever I saw him around the community, he would take the time to stop and talk. He made a lasting impression on me, and I know he will be missed by many.
I've known Lnwoid since his childhood. He was my student years ago at GRHS and became my friend during adulthood. Lynwood was a pleasant man who had a tremendous work ethic and a love for others. I have never known a harder worker than he. Lynwood was a favorite among his co-workers and was loved by them. He was most proud of his children and their accomplishments. Rest in peace, Lynwood, you were special to me and I will miss you greatly.
Sending condolences to the entire family of L.B.G. Pray the God gives you peace and comfort during this difficult time 🙏🙏🙏💗
Rest in peace my childhood friend and neighbor. There were countless miles that you and I, Donnell and Elaine walked that trail between our houses to play and endure whatever mischief that we could create as children. I am sure you that you will be missed. My condolences to the Garrett family, God be with you during what I know to be a difficult time. My thoughts and prayers are with you!
I am so sad to hear of Mr. Garrett's passing. I had first noticed Mr. Garrett before I became his neighbor, as he would often wave to me, a stranger, from his yard, when I drove by. Once I became his neighbor, I came to realize that he did that for a lot of people. Many times, through the day, I would hear a friendly horn honk, as a friend, or a stranger, drove by to share his greeting. When he first met my granddaughter, he went on about how cute she was, and whenever she came over to our house, she wanted to go visit our neighbor and his dog. As we pulled in our driveway, she would usually look out the window and ask "Neighbor"? to see if he was outside or not. When we visited, he often talked about the weather and football. If I asked how he was doing, he would say "I can't complain." He would always ask me how my Wife and Little Grandbaby were doing. I'll miss my neighbor. I'll miss his kindness and I'll miss seeing him in his front yard, with his waves and shouts of greeting!
