Mrs. Marjorie Jones peacefully passed away on July 17, 2023, surrounded by her loving family at the age of 70. She was born on April 7, 1953, in Ridgeway, South Carolina, to her parents, Tilman Jones Sr. and Geneva Belton. Marjorie's upbringing in Ridgeway instilled strong family values and a deep appreciation for her roots, shaped by the wisdom passed down by her parents and her second mother, Frances Mae Belton Cook.
Marjorie embodied boundless love and compassion throughout her life, leaving a lasting legacy of kindness and warmth for those who knew her. She was a beloved mother to Nichole Marsh (Marcus) and Hope Lawrence-Grisson (Kerry), and a cherished grandmother to Marcus Marsh Jr. and niece, ShiMiya Lovejoy (Robert), held a special place in her heart, as Marjorie loved her as if she were her own daughter. Marjorie was also a loving sister to Tillman Jones Jr. (Norma - deceased), Melvin Jones (Shirley), Lynn Henry, Lindsey Jones (Geraldine - deceased), Elroy Jones (Sharon), Franchis Cook, Cheyenne Jones, Gwendolyn Thomas (Theron), and Angelia McKeiver. Her heart extended to her extended family, cousins, and friends, whom she considered as dear as family.
Her faith was essential to her life, and her involvement in the East Market Street Seventh Day Adventist Church was a significant part of her daily routine. Marjorie actively served as a Lady's Auxiliary and Chancellor choir member, church treasurer, and building committee member, finding comfort and joy in worship and service to God and her community.
Marjorie's professional journey included working as a dedicated secretary at Travelers Insurance and making a significant impact during her time at the US Federal Courts Probation Department. Her retirement in 2015 marked the end of a fulfilling career, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, professionalism, and kindness.
Outside of work, Marjorie found joy in spending time with her family, cooking delicious meals, and organizing gatherings filled with laughter. Her impeccable sense of style, love for bright colors, and warm-hearted nature made her a beloved and unforgettable presence in the lives of those around her.
Marjorie's love, faith, and compassionate nature will continue to inspire and uplift those touched by her life. Her absence will be deeply mourned by all who knew and loved her. May she rest in peace, and may her memory bring comfort and strength to her family and friends. Her legacy of love, kindness, and compassion will forever be remembered with fondness and gratitude, as she brought immeasurable joy and happiness to those she touched.
Funeral service will be held Sunday, August 6, 2023 12pm East Market Street Seventh Day Adventist Church 1800 East Market Street Greensboro, North Carolina. 11am Visitation.

Nichole, We are so sorry for the loss of your mother. We are thinking and praying for your family. All our love! Your PDS Family!
I am so sad to hear about Marjorie. She was a beautiful and thoughtful person. My Mom,sister Rainey loved her so much. She loved her thoughtful cards and gifts ,but her spirit was so inspiring and kind. I met her through Mom and Sister Cook and family .She had a wonderful sense of humor and my brother Robert always appreciated her support and teasing. I will always remember her optimism and love. She was a true Christian and loved East Market Street Church.Mom always loved her and the hats too .My prayers are with you all. God Bless you all. The Rainey Family.E
You were a beautiful woman of God who always had a smile and warm greeting whenever you saw me. You really never knew my name, but you knew my daughter Iyuana. Whether she was with me or I was alone at Church, you always made me feel welcomed and that I belonged. For that, I will forever be grateful for your kindness and Christ-Like attitude towards me. May you rest now 💕 From Susan and Iyuana Williams
Oh Marjorie, I last spoke with you in 2015. I then texted you, but you didn't text back. I now regret not calling you. We met when you were a secretary with the United States Probation Office in Norfolk, Virginia, and I worked with the United States Bankruptcy Court. Both agencies were located in the same building. I laugh as I think about our nights clubbing and dancing and acting foolish. We were truly good friends. This present time exemplifies how important it is to keep in touch with friends. I miss you girl. My heart goes out to Nicole and Hope. I didn't know Nicole well, but Hope was my girl. I "hope" (no pun intended) Hope remembers me. Rest in complete peace, Marjorie. Our spirits will meet up again.

Hope and Nichole, I will forever say "Thank You" to our Heavenly Father for allowing your mother (my first cousin) and me to share ideas, good times and not so good times together. I cherrish the hour-long phone calls we had. Even when we said "bye," we would strike up another conversation and talk some more! She was a sweet heart! Cherish the memories of your mother. I pray God will keep you in perfect peace.
Love, Carrie and Harold Murray
