Add A Condolence

Alvie or we really called him Alvin was one of my most favorite people in the world. He was so much like his mom Bernice Melton Rorie whom heart was so filled with love and compassion. Alvin was always big and tall like his dad Uncle Letoy. This always gave him an advantage when we played our favorite 2 summer games 1-2-3Redlight and Mother may I. Aunt Bernice was our MC and she kept the competition fair by giving me" 3 BIG GIANT STEPS" then awarding Alvin 3 itty bitty baby steps. We all would laugh a continue to have so much fun. Alvin was a gifted football standout that could have easily played defensive end for any college in the country. He suffered 2 shoulder injuries which prevented us from being teammates at High Point Central Hi 77-78. Cuz was a loyal dedicated friend and everybody loved him. News of his passing and around the same time my other cuz on momma side was more than my heart could stand resulting in a stroke. I wish the world was filled with Alvie Rorie's. More Brother than Cuzzin. One.

You, Violet, are my dearest friend, and it didn't take long for your Alvie to become a good friend as well--he was so very kind. I'll never forget his exceptional hospitality and the wonderfully creative meals he'd serve when I'd come to visit. Who would have ever thought that adding hot sauce as a chocolate cake ingredient could make it taste so good--certainly, not me! You were blessed to have had a man who did most/all 😊 of the cooking and did it with a smile! His heart and personality were so big that it's a bit difficult to imagine not seeing him again in this life. But our LORD and Savior, Jesus Christ, had a bigger and better plan, and it was time for him to go home. There is sadness in my heart right now, but I live with God's promise of seeing our sisters and brothers in Christ someday. May our God surround you with His presence, my friend. May He give your children and grandchildren and all of Al's family, friends, etc., a peace that transcends their understanding. With deepest sympathy, your friend and sister in Christ, Michelle.

Al, my nephew, thanks for the memories and your love. It was great visiting you at your house as you showed me your vegetables, herbs, plants and baking cakes that you so unselfishly shared. I will always cherish the memories that I spent with violet and you. I will see again, Auntie Maude

Al my nephew thanks for your love and kindness taken me to your house you and Violet showing me your fruit trees vegetables and herb plants you would baked cake's.you always bring something to show how much you cared and love me I will always cherish the memories the love you and Violet gave me together I will see you again Auntie Maude

Cousin Violet and the Rorie family, I didn't know Alvie very well but I do know that he was kind, funny and easy to talk to. The last time that I saw him was in June when he visited with you,Violet. How could I have known that would be the last time I would see him. I thank God for the memories of Alvie Rorie. May God give you the strength and endurance during the days ahead. To the family and Violet Rorie

To the Rorie Family, may prayers are with you all at this sad time. Know that the Lord is standing near and holding you all close. Rev. La Tonye Torain.

With heavy hearts we extend to Alvin's family and friends our deepest condolences. He was our neighbor and friend who lived across the street on Annmoore Circle as teens, attended high school together at High Point Central, and we even worked together at Thomas Built Buses! Alvin was always a nice guy, friendly to all and he had a smile for everyone. May he Rest In Peace and May God comfort your heart Violet and the children, the grandchildren...the family as a whole and everyone whose lives were touched by him. Love to you all from Bobby and Melanie Boyd Jones and the Jones and Boyd family...Sonny, Cherry, Iris and Carmen. Stay blessed.πŸ™πŸ½β™₯οΈπŸ™πŸ½

To the Rorie family, Alvie was my supervisor while at Fort Sill, OK until his retirement. We fished and shared some fun times together...he helped me to become a good instructor and better NonCommissioned Officer. We stayed in touch until his death...he was a great man, but also a child of the Most zhigh God...he will be missed by all who knew him. May God continually bless you all as you mourn the loss of Alvie. But, cherish the fond memories in your hearts and minds as you all continue life...Remember 2 Timothy 4: 6-8...he fought the good fight finished his race. Now he is receiving his Crown...Curtis Rogers

Our prayers and thoughts are with the entire Rorie family. Although it has been quite a while since we have seen Alvie, he has and always will hold a special place in our hearts. We are thinking of you as you remember the love, as you mourn the loss and as you celebrate his life. May GOD bless you all. The Cotton Family

To the Rorie Family, Sergeant Rorie was a good friend to me during a rough time in my life as well as my boss when he was stationed here at Fort Sill. I'm praying for you and the family during this difficult time and wishing you comfort and peace.

My dearest niece, Violet, Our God is awesome. July was a time that God allowed Alvie and you to experience an intimate relationship between each other as your spirits became as one. I'm asking God to surround you with His perfect peace, love and comfort. I'll miss Al and his calls as he teased me by calling me by my unwanted first name. He visited me when I had cancer and was never in a hurry. The three of us had great conversations. You treated my niece like a princess; thank you. Violet, there will be things that trigger tears and things that bring laughter..., things that you never expected..., but they'll gently remind you of all the wonderful details that made life with Al as one precious gift. Asking God to surround you with His perfect peace, comfort, and love. Your Auntie, Gerry Campbell
