Our beloved brother, our heart and friend, Benjamin Edward Ingram, 63, went up to glory to finally touch the hem of his garment on January 29, 2021 at Hospice Home at High Point. Benjamin, better known as Edward, was born on February 17, 1957 to the late Benjamin Ingram, Jr. and Ailean B. Ingram. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Barbara J. Ingram.
He attended Trinity High School and later UNC Chapel Hill graduating with a BA in double majors of Art and Education. Edward began his working career at Belk as their Display Manager, managing ten stores and eventually after 33 years retired due to his health.
He joined First Baptist Church Trinity at a young age. He always showed that he loved the Lord by walking the walk and talking the talk.
He leaves to cherish his memories two devoted siblings, Pamela (Raymond) Mobley and Kenneth (Marie) Ingram; one nephew, Eric Ingram; one niece, Brianna Mobley, all of High Point, NC; there are many beautiful aunts, uncles, and cousins who have loved and will continue to love his presence in their lives dearly.
A private funeral service will be held Saturday, February 6, 2021 at First Baptist Church Trinity, 12504 Trinity Road. Interment will follow at Carolina Biblical Gardens. Mr. Ingram may be viewed on Friday, February 5, 2021 at Phillips Funeral Service Chapel from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Final arrangements are entrusted to Phillips Funeral Service, Inc.
Deepest sympathies and condolences. Edward was a joy to be around. He was funny and creative. I met him at UNC and we sang in the BSM Gospel choir. He loved eating, laughing, singing, and calling me Mother Artis. I will miss his kindness and his smile. Kathy Artis
Sincerest sympathies, continued uplifted prayers in Christ Jesus for comfort, and abundant loving thoughts are extended to the family, dear friends, classmates, and church family of Brother Edward. "Rest in Paradise Brother Edward" Rev. Rose Highland-Sharpe & Family, UNC-Chapel Hill Black Alumni Reunion Inspirational Committee
Margaret and I are sad to learn of Edward's passing. He was a delightful student, as were his siblings. Our love and sympathy to his family and other friends.
I'm just in shock as I have just received the text about my sweet funny Edward. We were high school classmates. Over the years, our paths crossed multiple times, usually at Belks and we would just yell out to each other and hug. It was always, always an uplifting time to talk with Edward. He was at our last class reunion with a dapper hat on and I have a picture of us together with me wearing his hat. I have read the wonderful words from each one and this is what having a life well lived is like. Thank you for your smile, your sweetness, your little giggle, and for memories that light up my ❤. We shall be reunited one fine day and we can catch up on all you've seen and perhaps be my guide as I begin my Heavenly life with you. Thank you dear family for sharing this precious man with us. A friend eternal, Debbie McDowell Gordon
On behalf of the Class of 1975 -Trinity High School, I also add our heartbreak of hearing Edward passed away! I also joined him at UNC Chapel Hill back in the day. Don't remember a time that Edward did not SWEEP PURE JOY into a gathering!!! His laugh bellowed with sweet, honest, from the gut DELIGHT! Our classmates adored him and I so ache to hear of his passing. God holds all of us in HIS VERY CAPABLE HANDS. Hugs to all who loved this dear man, Pamella Doby Saladino
The SMILE was contagious, everytime I saw Ed we always talked visual arts and family. I had the opportunity to work side by side with Ed at Belks. He had the eye to create beautiful surrondings. The last time I saw him he was collecting treasures, he told me it was just something he liked to do even though his sister Pam would have a fit. He was someone that always tried to warm the souls of others. I am so glad that I had the chance to meet such an amazing person. I will treasure the memories that I have, he will never be forgotten. I love you Pam and Ed knew I loved him as well. Praying your strength in such a trying time.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time. While your family will help carry you through these difficult days, we hope the caring of others will comfort you, too, and remind you how special you are to so many. We really enjoyed talking and laughing with Edward when gathered at Family gatherings in Rockingham NC. His smile was so very genuine. Harris Martin Johnson Family, Greensboro NC & Durham NC.

I was so sorry to read about Edward's death. He was so talented and so nice. I have enjoyed seeing him at Belk occasionally through the years since his graduation. Please accept my sincere sympathy. Ramona Michael (Edward's senior English teacher)

I was so lucky to work many years with Edward at Belk off and on. We had a lot of fun, especially when traveling to other regions to open a new store. He was always such a gentleman and a pleasure to be around.I know he will be so missed by family and friends.
Edward and I have been friends since Jr High School. We really became close our senior year. We just gravitated to each other and we were both recruited to Carolina our senior year. Edward went to Carolina and I went to Elizabeth City State University but we still remain friends. Later in life we discovered we were related and that made us closer. Edward was one of the most caring, loving people I know. I'll miss him but I know he is with the Lord. Family know he loved you guys and so do I. Wanda Rush
Edward was such a joy to know. We were in the BSM/UNC Gospel Choir together many years ago. That smile still looks the same and it was the first thing you saw coming when Edward entered the room! He had nicknames for many of us and mine was "Dula Bug." I have thought of his so often throughout the years and will miss his energy, wit, and heart. May God bless his family, friends, and all who were blessed to know him.
Edward and I met the Fall of 1975 at UNC as Freshmen. It was always good to see him on campus and through our Christian fellowship. He was a mainstay with the BSM Choir. He was friendly and quite witty. I was saddened to hear of his passing. He is present with the Lord now. May God bless and comfort the family. Shirley Fisher Armstrong, UNC-CH classmate.
Spent about 15 years working with Edward! What a fun and crazy guy. No one smiles, laughs or giggles quite the way he did. We shared so many "stories" during our times together. My condolences to his family whom he loved. Red was his favorite color!

WISS YOU AND OUR WONDERFUL CONVERSATIONS. YOU WILL BE GREATLY MISSED MY FRIEND
I was blessed to meet Edward in the fall of 1975.We were freshmen at UNC that year and both decided to join the BSM Gospel Choir, oftentimes singing side by side in the tenor section. We quickly became lifetime friends as we made our way through school. I'm deeply saddened at the news of his passing, but at the same time rejoicing because I know there will come a day when we will stand together again and worship around the throne of God! I look forward to the day, Praying for comfort and peace of family and friends. Anthony Boone

Greetings Family, I am convinced that God knows more than we will ever know and has made wise decisions that affect all of our lives. With that said, what a legacy Edward has left us and has shared with us over these years!
Edward Ingram was brilliant!!! He was gifted beyond measure and his ability to create "BEAUTY" from "ASHES"— "SOMETHINE—-FROM—NOTHING," symbolize his artistic genius! What a legacy!
More profoundly, his personal devotion to God and our many, many conversations about God have privileged —Edward to see Jesus—"face-to-face."
I would call to pray for him and he would end up praying for me—! That was Edward
What a legacy!!

It was a pleasure to be one of the "boys on the back row" in the BSM Gospel Choir at UNC-CH. Edward's voice, small and wit made the experience so much better. And his gift of gab..... Man, could he talk. I can remember thinking, "I may as well get comfortable 'cause I'm not going anywhere for a while. And irony of ironies, this year his Christmas card (that was mailed on Dec. 23) arrived in my mailbox on January 29. I will miss him. Henry Foust
There are no words that can express the depth of grief I feel upon the passing of my friend Edward. I have known that man for 39 years, worked side by side with him under some pretty horrendous circumstances (as well as some pretty awesome ones), shared many sorrows and joys, and had hours-long conversations that seemed like a minute. Not once in that entire time have I ever been even mildly irritated at him. That's saying something! I am proud to have been the friend of someone of such honor. Godspeed, Edward. Heaven has you now, and I expect to hear your laugh coming from on high! Eternally your friend, Pat Viveros
There is a deep sorrow at Belk of Asheboro to know that we will no longer hear the hearty laugh of Edward. There was none other like him. Edward Ingram lived his life to the fullest, and pulled it off without EVER hurting anyone. He was his own man, true to God, his family, and his huge assortment of friends. We, his former co-workers, want his family to know just how amazing Edward was to us all, how much we loved and respected him, and how deeply we will miss him. Our hearts go out to you.

I was saddened to hear about Edward! I worked with him at Belk and he was such a pleasant person who always had a smile and kind words. We shared many conversations and laughs at Belk and also at the Hospice Taste of the Town events which he loved attending. I send my sincere sympathy to his family. Edward, may you rest in peace! Sending my condolences to the family, I had the pleasure of working with Edward such an awesome person very hard worker, never complained you will be missed
Edward was such a kind, happy soul; a good friend. Knowing him from 20+ years with Belk, he was a special person that will be greatly missed. Our condolences to his family, his Belk family, and friends. May he be remembered for a great smile, a little giggle, and a kindness. I will miss you friend.

I was terribly saddened to hear of the transition of Edward. He was so kind, friendly, compassionate, and a talented artist. We were classmates at UNC-Chapel Hill (1975-1979) and sung together in the BSM Gospel Choir. As a matter of fact, I auditioned for the choir because of his urging! I will always remember his tenor voice and his shenanigans on the Hill!! Keeping the family in prayer during this most difficult time. Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal.
