OBITUARY
Charlie M. Lassiter was a devoted wife, loving mother, amazing younger sister, servant-leader, golfer, avid traveler, and cherished friend. She unexpectedly departed from this world on January 17, 2024, leaving behind a long legacy of love, faith, and kindness.
Charlie was born to loving parents, the late Charlie “Tuck” Frazier and the late Lula Mae Jackson Frazier in Lee County, Alabama on February 5, 1950. She was later married to the late Conrad James Lassiter (preceded in death on August 29, 2013) for forty-two beautiful years. Her marriage to Conrad was a bond that withstood the tests of time and served as a shining example of love and commitment. Charlie and Conrad shared two children: Kenikie Lassiter (daughter) and Kevin Lassiter (son). She cherished the time spent with them, creating lots of memories filled with joy, laughter, and unconditional love.
As a proud graduate of Alabama State University (Bachelor of Science in Business Administration) and Auburn University at Montgomery (Master of Public Administration), Charlie cultivated her passion for business by serving in many positions across the state of Alabama government. She was the former Director of the Human Resources Division, Department of Revenue, State of Alabama. She held this position for twenty-five years until retirement.
On a weekend getaway trip with Conrad many years ago, Charlie was introduced to the game of golf, and she never looked back. The excitement of learning a new game with new rules and gaining new friends was one of her favorite activities.
Guided by her unwavering faith, Charlie M. Lassiter was a devoted Christian and an active member of St. John’s AME Church for the past fifty-three years. While she served many on committees throughout the years, she served on the Stewardess Board, Trustee Board and she recently received the Women’s Missionary Society Life Member designation. She also spearheaded many planting projects supporting the beautification of the church campus both inside and out.
Charlie M. Lassiter leaves behind a long-lasting impact on those fortunate know and work with her. She will always be remembered for her warm smile, compassionate heart, willingness to ‘get it done’ and her beautiful, white hair.
She leaves to mourn her passing two children: Kenikie Lassiter (daughter), Atlanta, Georgia; Kevin Lassiter (son), Atlanta, Georgia, one sister, Mattie Carston, Lanett, Alabama; one niece, LaDonna Hightower, Lanett, Alabama; one nephew, Nicholas (Monica) Martin, Lanett, Alabama; two great-nieces, Oriana Cameron, Valley, Alabama, Charnesse Hightower, LaGrange, Georgia, two great-nephews, Tyreic Martin, Lanett, Alabama, Christopher Heard, Lanett, Alabama; one great-great nephew, Bryson Cameron, Lanett, Alabama; one great-great niece, Blakely Douglas, Valley, Alabama, and a host of cousins and friends.

"Lord, we know that You are the God who comforts us. I pray that You provide a time of comfort and rest for those whose hearts are hurting right now. Hold them in Your embrace, Father. Wrap them in Your love and remind them that though they may have lost someone dear, they are not alone, for You are with them. Bring to them the hope of Your unfailing love and turn their sadness into gladness. Soothe their heartache as they lean on You for comfort and guidance. I pray that their grief heals smoothly, for You will be with them every step of the way. May they hold on to You for strength, hope, and sustenance. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen."

Mrs. Charlie Lassiter was a faithful member of the WMS of the AME Church.
My deepest sympathy is extended to the family. Charlie Mae and I met at ASU, and remained friends throughout our graduation. Sometime ago we reconnected with several other friends and truly enjoyed going out and visiting each other. She truly will be missed from our group. Love, Alice Graham Logan

Charlie was one of the nicest, sweetest and kindest people I know. On my first day of playing golf at Arrowhead country club, she was the First Lady I met and stayed behind from a planed trip with other players to play with me. She was always so gracious not only to me but others as well. She was one of my favorite people and I will miss her smiling presence. Ruth Moore Jackson Bounds.
Mrs. Lassiter was a dedicated and loving parent during my teaching career at FAAM. Both her and Mr. Lassiter were dedicated to the cause of educating Kevin and supporting me and the school's day to day operation. Thanks for being a great support system for both the students and the faculty and staff. Rest well my friend for I will see you in that great getting up morning! Charlie was our neighbor for over 30 years! We developed a friendship that lead us to watching and caring for each other as God had intended it to be. Sharing conversations, lunches, dinners, family celebrations and heartaches, funerals to just plain laughing at life itself, we were blessed to have had time together l. I will miss cookie baking, cake baking and just generally exchanging ideas, recipes, fears, and giving each other advice . She wanted me to learn golf and join her in the game , but it was never for me, but I love listening to her about her game and her travels! I will truly miss my neighbor and friend . God bless her family and be with them always. Charlie and Gloria Gibbons
