Anson was a dear friend to me. I took over a work role from him here at PM and he was so patient and helpful with his teaching. We spent many hours together grueling over work....I called him my "work husband" of which he thought was so funny. We would always take sidebars and he'd talk about his boys and we'd share pictures and giggle about crazy stuff going on. I really enjoyed his company and will miss him dearly. I'm glad I got to see him back in October and got to talk with him on the phone a couple of times this year. His wife, boys, and all of his family are in my thoughts and prayers and we'll all look forward to seeing him again one day! - Cloresa Shumaker

No words can express the loss that I feel with the passing of my buddy and best friend. I am so sorry to hear of Anson's passing. I would like to send my sincere condolences to his Wife, Sons and all of his Family, Friends, Colleagues and Co-Workers. I met Anson when we were kids; he had came one Summer to Martinsville, to visit his Dad and Grandfather and to my knowledge never left. We became friends immediately because I had never met anyone quite like him. He was funny, kind, trustworthy, thoughtful, smart and very cute. I remember that he would stay at our house for hours playing Uno until Mama would finally say "ok Anson we will see you tomorrow". I could go on and on about how special he was to me and my family but there is not enough hours in a day. I will say this "Anson William Hairston, you will truly be missed but not forgotten.
