Obituary For Darrin Keith Greene

Darrin Keith Greene, of New York, passed away on July 29, 2023 in Carthage, New York at the age of 59. He was born on October 29, 1964, in New York City to his parents, Nathaniel and Dorothy Greene. He attended Martin Luther King High School in Manhattan, NY, and graduated in 1984. When he was 18 years old, Darrin decided he wanted to join the U. S. Army. Darrin was stationed in various locations during his military career, which includes the following: Germany, Italy, Turkey, Fort Riley (Kansas), and Fort Drum Army Base in Carthage, NY. He was a decorated veteran who served in the United States Military for a total of 30 years, of which 15 years were done in the Reserves after active duty. Darrin received the following metals and decorations during his military career: Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Army Lapel Button, Good Conduct Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon(2), NCO Professional Development Ribbon, Marksman 1st Class, Army Achievement Medal with 1st OLC and the Humanitarian Service Medal. When he wasn’t working, Darrin had a passion for the outdoors and hip-hop music and culture. You could often catch him singing lyrics to old-school rap and sharing his insight. Darrin loved the Lord and believed that he was on this earth to serve and help others as Christ did. Sergeant Greene was an accomplished Petroleum Engineer, a loving son, and a brave and honorable soldier. in Carthage, NY, at the age of 59. Darrin was preceded in death by his father, Nathaniel Greene. Surviving are his mother, Dorothy Greene and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins who will carry on his legacy. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, August 14 at Scott's Chapel, 116 E. Brookland Park Blvd. Dr. Kirkland R. Walton officiating. I recently found out that Darrin passed away. Even though we kept in touch, we would occasionally go a few months without talking. Darrin and I met back in 1990 while we were both stationed in the military in Italy together. We hung out a lot when we both lived in Italy during the 1990's. Him being from Manhattan and me being from Jersey City; made us click right away. He has met my family in Jersey City and whenever I came home from overseas we would meet up in NYC or Jersey City. We last saw one another when Darrin came to Italy to visit my family and I in August of 2019...We last spoke around late April, early May and he talked about coming back to Italy to visit us again around August/September. I tried calling Darrin several times between July and last week and thought that maybe he changed numbers or lost his phone and my number possibly. I knew his birthday was coming up on 29 October, then something just told me to check his name on Google and I found the obituary and my heart sank. Darrin was one of the most sincere persons I've ever met. I would like to offer my condolences to his Mom, Ms Greene. If anyone sees this message, please tell Ms. Greene, I am Darrin's military friend Derrick who lives in Italy. When he returned from Italy visiting me and my family back in August 2019, he called me from his Mom's house in Manhattan and I said hello to her if she remembers....Please know that his American ex-military friends and Italian friends here in Italy sends our sincere condolences to the Greene family and friends. To my brother from another mother, Darrin aka G-Money bka Mo Greene. Man, this is hard just typing this message, as I thought once I returned from vacation that we would continue to laugh, debate, and pontificate on daily events as always! You are/were one of the staunchest and honest brothers I have ever met. It's funny that we only kicked it for 23 days preparing for deployment in Camp Marshall, SC May 2008, but it seemed like forever. Rest Well my brother, as I will keep the communication open with your moms and continue to keep your name and spirit relevant! Until we meet again, thanks for intersecting on my spiritual lineage. May the omnipotent and the ancestors readily embrace your caring soul. SALUTE..... still thinking you are going to call or pick up the phone with one of your clever sayings!!!!!

Although I known Mr Greene for a short period of time. He was a very likable person. Someone I can sit and talk to get and get alot of knowledge from.he was very playful and joking around Mr Greene you will be missed by many
