Coach, teacher and mentor to so many of us who crossed his path at JFK. He was one of my mother's dearest friends after they met during parent teacher's conference day. A true beacon of positivity, character and kindness, who exemplified success. He was a blueprint of who you wanted to become and instilled in you the belief that you could achieve anything you desired. He leaves behind a living legacy that that my siblings and I are proud to be a part of. Our deepest condolences to the Taylor family from the entire Menefield family. He touched us all.
Asking God to enfold you in his faithful love and comfort you and your family with the cherished memories you hold dear. Pernell was just a great friend, fellow educator, sportsman, and a guy you just enjoyed being around and having a great conversation. I enjoyed the Old Timers breakfasts with him over the years and enjoyed looking at his model boats he had created and just joking about Big State and Little State games. The world will miss his humor and positive presence. My you rest in peace. My deepest condolences to his family. Dennis Winston

Mr. Taylor is what we called him as students is one of the most rememberable teachers in my educational history. He was not only a teacher but a parent as well. Back in the day, in the 1960's, his leadership as both teacher and parent was much respected and is something that is much needed today. He was a great guy and a great human being. I pray that G,d grant him a special place in the next life. Nasir A. Abdur-Rahim

Through the years, enjoyed he and his wife Patricia presence, during VSU's homecomings, Penn Relays, and for many years vacationing at Sandbridge Beach, Virginia Beach, VA.
