Howard V Willis Sr. was a mentor to me every since my arrival at RMZBC 24 years ago. He had more confidence in me then I had in myself. I've organized 3 ministries since I've been at RMZBC and deacon Willis was instrumental in their success. Always encouraging my family and I outside the church as well. There is so much I can say but I'll leave with, he treated me like a son. A "Father Figure" to me. Blessings and condolence to Mrs. Willis and the entire Willis family. My greatest condolences goes out to the Willis family, although I met Deacon Willis through his son Bishop, our pastor at Greater Mount Pisgah Baptist Church. I recall that often when we celebrated something at the church both Deacon and Deaconess Willis always attend it right along with the rest of the congregation. They became like family. I don't have enough words to express my thoughts about the life of Deacon Howard Willis. He was for us our own "Soldier and a Gentleman." Deacon Willis always met you with a smile, had words to encourage you, and loved God, his family and friends. I will miss his physical presence and will always be thankful for his friendship. Family, be encouraged that like a good soldier Deacon Willis is still watching over you. The Hathaway and New Covenant family are praying for the Willis and Rising Mt Zion families.
