I was a member of the Class of 1967 of Armstrong High School. Samuel Barham taught me Advanced Placement Physics. He was a terrific teacher who loved physics and that love was infectious. I last saw him a few years ago at the funeral for Mrs. Mary Winston, held at First African. I was able to say to him that that day that I had earned three advanced degrees, that I'd been taught by some truly great teachers, and no matter how hard I might try, I could never move him out of the top five. Samuel Barham changed my life -- making the study of science a joy -- an art. I will cherish his memory and thank the Lord that I was blessed to experience a master teacher at work. Riley K Temple, Washington, DC

As his assistant at Huguenot High School I learned so much from him about life and how to become friends with folks who are different than you. He would come to visit Joni and me at my home whenever he was near my house and I always appreciated his visits.
Our friendship continued for a long time after he left Huguenot but we lost contact in the last few years much to my regret.
Condolences to the Family and Sam may you rest in peace. Bill and Joni Schwartz
