BISHOP WILLIAM EARL TAYLOR, born to the late Deaconess Daisy Mae Gaddy Johnny William Shankle after a brief illness got his wings on October 11, 2021 at Atrium Health-Pineville, Charlotte, NC.
Bishop Taylor accepted Christ at an early age. He became Pastor of Johnson’s Chapel Holiness Church in 1999. He was later elevated to Bishop. He trusted God completely and listened daily for God’s instructions. He was selfless, lived to please God and tried to allow God to order his steps. He was a great example of a man that followed God, and there is no doubt his legacy followed him to Heaven.
Bishop Taylor attended the public schools of Anson County. After graduating from Bowman Senior High in 1975, he matriculated to Barber-Scotia College in Concord, NC where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology in 1979.
Bishop Taylor was always a hardworking and dedicated man. He was employed by Mr. Charlie Pigg as a teenager and spent many years working as a manager at McDonald’s and at Smith’s Funeral Home. In December, 2019, Bishop retired after 30 years of dedicated service to Tyson Foods.
Bishop Taylor earned many awards and accolades over the years for his academics and his devotion to God.
In addition to his parents, Bishop Taylor was preceded in death by a brother, Albert Taylor II, nephew, Albert Taylor III and niece, Autumn Allen.
Left to honor and cherish the memory of BISHOP are: two brothers, Elder Pearl Taylor (Shirley) and James Harris; five sisters, Betty Redfield (Calvin), Cathy Gaddy (Elder Gary Gaddy), Elder Pandora Little, Elsie Harris and Rachel Harris; special daughters and son that he raised as his own, Minister Shanelle Caraway (Marcus), Demettriss Harris (Derrick), Dominique Harris and Trevun Ratliff; godson, Dr. Rickey Hyatt; special grandchildren whom he helped raise, Daisyia, Zamiyiah, Markeys Jr., Zycearean, Zyceareai, Malique, and Dominic; a devoted caretaker/armor bearer, Coy DeBerry; nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly, Marlo (Joanne), Jessica, Angaloka, Quiottte, Jason (Jessica), Andrew, Gary Jr., Charnice, Kendrick, Shakasha, Laquitia, Talisha, Capriciuna, Paranda, James Jr., Mymilua, Jeremiah, Daisy, Jonathan, Alaysia, and Roderick; a host of great nieces and nephews; special aunt, Leola Clark and a host of aunts, uncles, relatives and friends; special friends, Bert, Vanessa, Robert Lee, Chuck, Elder Harold C. Smith, Elder Rebecca Little and his Tyson and Church families.
The Services to Honor and Celebrate the Life and Legacy of Bishop Taylor will be on Sunday, October 17, 2021, 2:00pm, Smith's Memorial Chapel, 604 Salisbury Street, Wadesboro, North Carolina. Interment will be at Westview Memorial Park, Highway 74-West, Wadesboro, North Carolina.
The Taylor & Harris Families will greet family and friends on Sunday, October 17, 2021 from 1:30-2:00pm at Smith's Memorial Chapel.
The public viewing will be on Saturday, October 16, 2021 from 3:00-5:00pm at Smith Funeral Home.
