Jewel C. Butler was born April 22, 1933 to the late Pinnie Clark of Anson County. She went home for her rest October 13, 2021 at Hospice of Richmond County with her family by her side.
She was united in Holy Matrimony to Minister Clayton Butler who preceded her in death.
She confessed Christ at an early age and joined New it Grove Baptist Church. She then became a member of First Baptist Church in Wadesboro, NC where she was an active faithful and supportive member of the A.L. Bell Inspirational Chorus. She was also a Deaconess, Sunday School teacher, President of the Usher Board, and was awarded Woman Of The Year in 2008. She later joined Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Ansonville, NC and was a dedicated member where she was presented a plaque of Servitude Of The Body Of Christ. She continued attendance until her health failed.
She retired from I.G.A. as a cook, where people from all over the county enjoyed her soul food. Her favorite hobbies were fishing with her son, gardening, cooking and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Linda Jean Butler and Sherly Clark Willoughby. Three sisters, Hannah Harris, Elsie Dye and Catherine Davis. Four brothers, Henry Clay Sturdivant, L.C. Clark, Rev. Billy G. Clark and Baxter Lee Clark.
To her family, Jewel was a devoted daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. She leaves to cherish her loving son, Jay J. Clark (Cordelia) of Hoffman, NC; two loving daughters, Sherley Crowell of the home and Minister Jewel Bennett of Wadesboro, NC; two granddaughters, Deanna Wall of Wadesboro, NC and LaShay Willoughby of the home; four grandsons, Keith Bennett (Yahaira) of Monroe, NC, Byron Clark of Maryland, Brandon and Justin Bennett both of Wadesboro, NC.
