Obituary For Dollie Wilson

Sister Dollie Wilson was born April 1, 1929 in Mayesville, South Carolina to the late Joseph Burgess and Irene Burgess. She was the second of eight children born to this union. Dollie accepted the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at an early age attending Ebenezer African Methodist Episcopal Church in Mayesville, South Carolina.

There she met the love of her life, George Washington Wilson, Sr. They united in Holy Matrimony on December 23, 1942. To this blissful union, eleven children were born. In 1957, along with their children, the family moved to Fort Pierce, Florida. They joined First Bethel Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. C. Byrd where Sis. Wilson served faithfully as an usher.

Dollie along with her husband opened Wilson’s Grocery Store which is still in operation today after 54 years. In 1980, under the leadership of Rev. Major Highman, Sister Wilson and her family became founding members of Greater New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. Sis. Wilson loved her family. She also loved to travel, fish, and work in the garden until her health no longer permitted.

On December 23, 2022, Dollie was called from her earthly home to be with the Lord. She was preceded in death by her parents: Joseph and Irene Burgess; three sisters; three brothers; three sons: Frederick, Johnny, and George Jr.; a son whom she raised: Teddy Wilson.

Left to cherish her precious memories are her children: Corine Legette of Mays Landing, NJ, Gloria Neloms, Freddie (Linda) Wilson all of Fort Pierce, FL, Jerry (Theresa) Wilson of White City, Brenda Brunson, Larry Wilson, Darrell Wilson, Christopher (Gina) Wilson all of Fort Pierce; brother: Aaron Burgess of Fort Pierce, Florida; sister-in-law: Jaqueline Burgess of Leesburg; grandchildren: Gene (Elsa) Wilson, Paula (Willie) Bellamy, Terrence (Sherry) Wilson, Terrianne (Errick) Robinson, Jennifer Wilson, Kevin (Katina) Walker, Crystal (Lakisha) Battle, Tobias (Latesha) Slater, Sylvia (Alonzo) Mitz, Angela Wilson, Waldell Brunson, Freddie Wilson, Jr., Jerry Wilson, Jr., Stanley Stevens, Desmond (Alberta) Adams, Anthony (Lindsay) McDowell, Belinda Legette, Angela McDowell, Sherika Gay, Jason (Tieka) Adams, Cedric (Christa) Wilson, Darius (Ria) Wilson, Antonio (Dominique) Brunson, Larry Wilson, Jr., Christopher Wilson, Jr., Jatavious (Christine) Wilson, Faith Wilson, Chelsea Gordon, Germalon Gordon, Earl Wilson, Jerring Wilson, Jeremy Wilson (deceased), Zegery Reeves (deceased), Crystal Wilson, Tekevia (Tony) Dorsey, Sabrina Johnson, Darrel Wilson, Jr., Tranekia Wilson, Darranekia Brunson, Darresie Wilson, Jordan Wilson, Derrick Wilson, Jason Wilson, Tia Wilson, Mia Wilson, Demaurian, Chris, Jr., Alex, Deandre, Crista, Crissy, Tieara, Christian, Chrishawn, Nekia, Christianna, Chris, Chrishariaun, Chrishad, Christion, Janyla, Christal, Tristian; 155 great grandchildren; 65 great-great grandchildren; and a host of other family members and friends who will miss her dearly.

Public visitation for Dollie Wilson will take place on Friday, January 6, 2023 from 4:00pm-6:00pm at Greater New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Fort Pierce, FL which will be followed by Wake Service from 6:00pm-7:00pm. Funeral services will convene on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at 13th Street Vhurch of God in Fort Pierce, FL beginning at 11:00am. Burial will immediately follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.

Although many venues have opened and the restrictions of COVID-19 have been relaxed, we at Stone Brothers Funeral Homes are still enforcing the guidelines set forth by the CDC and FDOH to protect our families and our staff. We ask that you respect this, as it could very well save your life. We also ask that you acknowledge and execute the 6 feet social distancing guidelines as well.
