Our talks and time spent was not long enough; I miss you already. You always had time for me, even when I dropped in unannounced. We had plans to watch the video tapes of your family trips to Florida. Please forgive me for thinking we had more time but I know you are in a better place now. With few words, you shared your strength, work ethic and love for family; excellent traits that I plan to carry with me daily. Special thanks for spending time with my grandson, he calls himself a "country boy" now. :-) Rest in Heaven Cousin Robert, Peace to the Smith Family-- Pamela Reid Seldon, granddaughter of William and Pearl Reid, daughter of Cornelia Reid Coar.
I can't think of a memory of visiting "the country" without you in it. You were always the first stop. I will miss the peace that your presence would bring, being outside, hearing your thick southern accent. It was then that I felt closest to my roots. I regret that I didn't have more of these small moments, but I rejoice knowing one day I'll have an eternity with you to make up for the missed time. I pray that your family draws from your strength during this time of mourning. Send them/us some love. -Darrell S. (Pam Pam's baby boy)
To the entire Smith family, our family sends prayers and condolences for the loss of this truly wonderful man. Robert Lee Smith Jr. was a strong and influential force in all of our lives as we grew up as children. He showed us what true love for family and steadfast determination looked like. He was a pillar of strength but always found a way to smile. He was justifiably respected in the community and will be missed accordingly. God bless the Smith family. Derrick Heard (Cornelia's oldest son)
As the youngest great granddaughter, "Zoey" has the pictures from the thrill of the rides he took her while sitting on his lap that she "enjoyed" but mostly he did it because it brought him "Joy"!!(#daughterofZay)
Uncle Robert may you rest in peace 🙏.I'm thankful for time you spent with me as a kid growing up. I will never forget the picnics you and grandaddy Robert Smith Sr. would take me to at Tom's.
Love you, Shirley R. Thomas your niece and the daughter of your sister Pollie Be Lias
Grandaddy 😞 28 years just wasn't enough time with you . I always said you would live for along time. I know Bigma happy to see you , then again she like you left them down there. His exact words was Them Kids grown , they alright. You got to meet all the new additions before you left here (Josiah, Elijah & Morocco). I asked you if you would walk me down next year when I get married & you told me you would . If I knew that Tuesday when I came would be the last day , I would've stayed a little longer . Just know I'm at Peace . God needed you more , IM ALRIGHT in your voice . Love Neecee (Jason) Kam , Queen , Kalei & Josiah
My deepest sympathy in the loss of loved one. I pray the comfort and strength. Velor
My grandaddy. Words can not express what it meant to have had you in my life for sixteen years. All your grands and great grands can say, we all have taken a spin on your lap in your wheelchair. We have all gone in your garden with you hoping to get the biggest sugarcane you had. I will always remember you saying "the biggest does not mean the sweetest"!! To Andrew, Ethel, Elisabeth and the Smith Family, our prayer is that God will keep his arms of comfort around all of you. In our neighborhood, Andrew emulates the Christian values, the use of his skills to help others and the caring attitude instilled by his parents. His Father continued to reflect and reinforce these values. Andrew demonstrated his love for his Father through his dedication and caring. Denise, my condolences are with you and your family during this time. A comfort and reading Revelation 21:4.
To my Siblings..our dad lived for 74 years. We have no reason to hold our heads low. He was strong physically, mentally and most of all Spiritually. Although a car accident left him paralyzed in 1985, he did more without the mobility of his legs than some men who are able to walk. He raised his six kids with discipline and love. We never wanted for anything. He was a provider to the very end. If he could say anything to any of us today,it would be, "When you hear of my homegoing, don't worry about me" "I'm Good"...I know he is with the Lord, not just that, but he is finally reunited with our mom, and those two things allow me to have peace!! Cry if you must, but know this.."No Storm come in your life to destroy, it comes to clear the path"..We loved him..but God loved him best!! Denise Smith Bynam(Ken), Phenix City, Al
