Leroy Desheen Reshard, 75, the son of the late Minnie Lee Reshard and Napoleon Rivers, was born in Tallahassee, Florida on March 13, 1945. Leroy fought his prostate cancer steadfastly, but succumbed and slipped away to eternal rest on November 16, 2020 at his home in Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina in the presence of his immediate family.
Leroy, the second eldest of eight children was reared in a loving home. His early education was received in the public schools of Tallahassee, Florida. Upon graduating from Lincoln High School in 1963, he joined the United States Army. During his time in the armed forces, he earned the prestigious Bronze Star Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and National Defense Service Medal with Device 60. Upon return from Vietnam, he moved to Long Island, New York and worked as an electrician while attending night school at Hofstra University.
On July 1, 1978 he was joined in holy matrimony to Audrey Mae Shockley. This union was blessed with two daughters, Shawna and Phylicia.
Leroy was a very loving, dedicated, and passionate father who had a gift for inspiring and motivating his children to always be the best person they could be.
He worked for over two decades as a top salesperson for 3M Company prior to retiring and working as a motivational speaker, consultant, and entrepreneur. He enjoyed volunteering and serving at-risk youth and dedicated much of his time to Rotary International, where he held various leadership positions over the years, was a Paul Harris Fellow, and served as the President of the Fuquay-Varina Chapter of Rotary International from 2018-2019.
His brother-in-law Dr. John R. Shockley, Jr. and nephew John R. Shockley, III preceded him in death.
He is survived by his loving wife, Audrey Reshard of Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina; two daughters, Shawna Reshard-Harmon (Maurice) of Apex, North Carolina and Phylicia Reshard of Charlotte, North Carolina; seven siblings, James Reshard (Christoria) of Westbury, New York; Connie Reshard of Washington, D.C.; Clinton Reshard (Cynthia) of Tallahassee, Florida; Belinda McClam (James) of Titusville, Florida; Lloyd Reshard (Robin) of Pensacola, Florida; Wilbur Reshard (Larosita) of Pensacola, Florida; and Brenda Jones (Greg) of Tallahassee, Florida; two grandchildren, Maurice, Jr. and Sterling Harmon; and three sister-in-laws Carol Shockley, Zarina Sparling (Steve), and Diane Shockley; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, Godchildren, other relatives and friends.
His zest for life and friendly smile were known in all the relationships that he developed with the people he met. His love, kindness, and energy for life will be missed by all that knew and loved him. May God grant him His peace.

Funeral will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, November 21, 2020 at Trice Funeral Home Chapel, 127 N. West Street in Fuquay-Varina, NC 27526.
Due to Covid-19, the family will not be accepting any visitors at this time.
In lieu of flowers the family would like all donations to be made to the American Cancer Society.
