Born on November 27, 1969, in Wake County, NC, Twila was the beloved daughter of Robert “Bud” Council, Jr., and Irene Council. From an early age, she carried a spirit of determination, compassion,
and purpose that would guide her throughout her life.
Twila began her educational journey at Apex and Cary Elementary Schools. She later continued her studies at Wake Technical Community College where she earned an Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education. A lifelong educator, Twila was deeply
committed to shaping young minds and nurturing generations of students with patience, wisdom, and care. Her impact reached far beyond the classroom—she was a mentor, a mother figure, and a source of encouragement to many.
A woman of faith, Twila maintained a deep and personal relationship with God throughout her life. She was baptized at Faith Missionary Baptist Church where she served as a greeter and worked in the
hospitality ministry and usher board. She later returned to her home church, Holland Chapel AME Zion Church, and she was ordained as a Missionary, an honor that spoke to a life defined by service and
devoted to the calling God placed upon her. Twila had a warm spirit that drew people to her. She valued connection, community, and faith and made others feel seen and deeply cared for.
Twila was united in marriage to the love of her life, William Barry Adams. Their union was rooted in love, partnership, and unwavering devotion. She remained deeply in love with him throughout her life, even after his transition in 2017—a testament to a love that endures beyond this life.
Twila was a proud mother and grandmother whose love created a strong foundation that will continue to carry her family forward. She led with wisdom, grace, and unwavering devotion, instilling values that will live on through her children and grandchildren. Twila leaves to cherish her memory: her loving children, Ranesha Johnson (Dexter Johnson), Cameron Adams, and Kayla Adams; and her grandchildren, Tyler Adams, Saiya Johnson, Kayne Crowson, Hazel Adams, Karim Davis, Mila Johnson, Dakota Johnson, Louis Adams, and Laliah-Lynn Adams; siblings, Cheryl Fuller, Gregory Council, Darlene Norris (Pastor Clee Norris), and Carl Council; sisters-in-law: Bobbie Council and Jacqueline Plush; along with her
grand dog, Ralph.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Barry Adams, whose memory she carried with her always; parents, Robert “Bud” Council, Jr., and Irene Council; and siblings, Jerry Council,
Clayborn Council, Daryl Council, and Maylene Moses.

My Dear Family, Our deepest condolences are extended to you in the loss of my beloved cousin Twila. She was like a flower spreading a sweet fragrance when in her presence. Her postings left no doubt that she loved the Lord, her husband, her children, grands, great grands, friends, and extended family with passion. What I loved about about Twila is that when she spoke so lovingly about her husband, children and grands- it was pure love. Never puffed up, yet so proud of each accomplishments within her family. She knew and lived referencing the Lord, giving Him glory with her walk with him. I always think of her as being so blessed.. even through her challenges because she loved, worshipped God, taught her children, and her children's children, she laughed, dressed and shared her heart well! She was authentic in character, inspiring many along her journey!!!! I will forever be thankful for this beam of light to my life! Sleep on Sister-Cousin! Enjoy your rest. We surely love you, but God surely loves you best!!! Sincerely, Randolph, Deborah Farrar Burwell & Family Also, on behalf of the entire Family Tree of the late Bro. Leroy & Mother Betty Farrar
