Deacon John A. Holloway, more affectionately known as “Tune,” was born on June 10, 1949, to the late Mrs. Mary Frances Bush Holloway and the late Mr. John D. Holloway in Thomaston, Upson County, Georgia. At an early age, he joined the Mary Lizzie Baptist Church.
He attended public school in Thomaston. He graduated from Drake High School with the Class of l968. John made friends in school and on the job that lasted his lifetime.
John soon met Rosann Jordan. They fell in love and were married on August 8, l971. To this union, one daughter was born. They were inseparable and shared fifty-three years together. To support his
family, John was employed by the Peerless Mill. In addition to the mill, he also worked at Bostwick Furniture and Upson-Lee South Elementary School. He was a hard worker and provided well for his family. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
John loved going to church and singing. The elders of the church saw his faithfulness and he was soon ordained as a deacon. He sung in the Gospel Choir, the Male Choir and served on the Finance Committee as long as his health allowed.
In addition to going to church, he enjoyed being around his family and friends, especially the twins. They were the joy of his life. John was a comedian as well. He loved to make people laugh and he was just enjoyable to be around. He never ever met a stranger.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings, Earnestine Gresham, Allen Holloway and Suzette Bogan. On Monday, December 30, 2024 the Lord called his name. He answered the call and went home to rest.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife, Mrs. Rosann Holloway; one daughter, LaTreena (Jerry, Jr.) Meadows; four grandchildren: Janiah Meadows, Jordin Meadows, Jerderrian Meadows and Haiden Harris; three great-grandchildren: M.J., Navi and Ava; sisters and brothers include: Ms. Mary Ann Holloway, Mr. Michael Holloway, Mr. Ralph (Marilyn) Holloway, Mr. Mark Holloway and Mr. Ray (Sharon) Holloway; God-daughter, Ms. Brianna Thornton; God-son, Mr. Frederick Sparks Jr.; sister-in-law and care-giver, Ms. Diane Jordan; two uncles: Mr. Arthur Bush and Mr. Frank (Vanessa) Holloway; a lifetime and devoted friend, Mr. Ray Lockhart; several other sisters and brothers-in-law, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
