Lurline Price affectionately known as Judy, was born February 10, 1932 to the late Rilla Smith of Jackson, Georgia. She was the eldest of 4 children. Judy was a graduate of Henderson High School Class of 1948. While a student at Henderson High she was a valued member of the Women Basketball team where she wore the number (13). After graduating high school, she attended Morris Brown College, Fort Valley State College and then Tift College where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts of Degree in Early Childhood Education. Being and advocate for education and priding herself in being a life-long learner, Judy continued to take courses in her loved past time of Catering, and Cake Decorating. On August 31, 1957, Lurline married the love of her life, Early Joe (Punch) Price they were married until his death in 1995. This union birthed two beautiful daughters, the late Dr. Miranda Price Jones and Mrs. Vickie Price Norwood whom she loved immensely. Judy worked in several capacities, one as a Director of McIntosh Trail Early Development Center of Jackson Georgia. She later worked and retired from Georgia Department of Corrections with 17 years of service. Judy prided herself as one of the first women to work as a Correctional Officer at Georgia Diagnostic & Classification Prisons. After retirement she returned to her first love of education where she worked at North Mulberry Elementary, Stark Elementary, and Luella Elementary and Middle Schools as a substitute teacher. Judy loved to cook and entertain for her family. This love for cooking evolved into a business venture which she took on with her sister and best friend Lillian Portis (Judy and Lillian Catering Service.) From 1980 to 2006 Judy and Lillian Catering Service prepared food and cakes for couples all over middle Georgia area. Lurline was a faithful member of Friendship AME Church of Jackson, Georgia during her early years. She later joined Towaliga County Line Baptist Church where she actively served on the Deaconess Ministry. Judy loved serving and worshipping God. She would always make her way to the front pew every Sunday until her health declined. Her hobbies included loving and spending time with her family and her great-grandchildren. They were her pride and joy. She was preceded in death by siblings Leon Smith and Glenda Woodard. Lurline answered the call from labor to reward on January 31,2020. Judy leaves to cherish and honor her amazing life: Daughter, Vickie (Luther) Norwood, Four Grandchildren, Phallon (Irvin) Trice, Alma Jones, Keith Kilpatrick, Kristiana Stewart, 10 great-grandchildren, brother, Raynard( Vickie) Smith, a special cousin/sister Ms. Lillian Portis, a special cousin and caregiver Cheryl (Peaches) Akins, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
