Obituary For Michael Coxton Jr.

Michael Coxton, Jr. was born on September 24, 1984, in Atlanta, Georgia to the loving parents Michael Coxton, Sr. and LaRose Coxton. He was raised in Thomaston, Georgia, where he attended school and formed lifelong friendships.

Michael was a proud graduate of Upson-Lee High School, Class of 2002. From a young age, he had a deep love for athletics and was actively involved in sports throughout his childhood and school years. He played football, baseball, basketball and wrestling, displaying not only athletic talent but also dedication, teamwork and determination.

After high school, Michael explored several jobs and trades, never shying away from hard work or new opportunities. His work experience included construction, plumbing, moving, barbering, and truck driving. No matter the role, Michael took pride in what he did and was always willing to help others whenever he could. Michael also had a true passion for cooking and found joy in preparing meals for family and friends, using food as another way to show love and bring people together.

Michael had a truly unforgettable spirit. He was known for his helping heart, his infectious humor, his unforgettable smile and his gift for making people laugh. A natural comedian, he could brighten any room and bring joy to those around him. He was a true people person who never met a stranger and made everyone feel welcomed and seen.

Michael was preceded in death by his grandparents, William and Daisy Johnson and Owen and Lula Bell Rivers; and his two uncles, Antonio Chambless and Johnny Coxton.

Michael is survived by his loving parents, Michael Coxton, Sr. and LaRose Coxton; his children, Ekekiel Michael Coxton Hunt, Derri’on Nehemiah Weston and Adayah Gabriella Weston; his brother, Courtney Chambless; his sister, Tia Walton; and his grandfather, Roy Chambless, Sr.

He is also survived by his uncles, Roy Chambless, Jr., Cornell Cannon, Jerome Coxton and Bernard Coxton; his aunts, Katie Strickland, Barbara Billingsley Shaheed, Cynthia Chambless, Roselynn Chambless, Zeaster Johnson, Yvette Coxton King and Alison Coxton Mayfield.

He is also lovingly remembered by his great-aunts, Martha Reeves, Dorothy Parks, Audrey (Johnnie) Chambless Shields and Barbara Parks, and his great-uncles, Richard Collier, Charles (Kathleen) Chambless, Lester (Katrina) Chambless, Clarence Chambless, Leon Chambless and Eddie Chambless.

Michael also leaves behind a very special friend, Emily Hunt, along with countless other relatives, friends and loved ones who will forever cherish his memory.

Michael Coxton, Jr. will be deeply missed, but his laughter, love and generous spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
