Mr. Michael D. Bentley, a beloved son affectionately known as Mike, was born on August 24, 1974 in Bridgeport, CT to the parents of the late Jerry Gatewood and Evelyn Bentley. Michael attended the Bridgeport Public School Systems, until he moved to Atlanta, GA He then attended school in the Fulton School System, graduating with the Banneker High School Class of 1994. He confessed his life to Christ and joined the World Life Christian Center. He was employed for several years at The Mexican Bar and Grill. Michael was known as a great cook. He was always willing to lend a helping hand whenever needed. He was well known in the Atlanta and surrounding areas, especially “Old National’, He never allowed grass to grow under his feet; thus, he would walk miles, if he needed to! He also used the Day and Night Cab Services for many years. Michael loved his family, and the children in the family always enjoyed playing with him. Whenever his mother wanted him, she would always yell: “Mike”, and he would comically answer: “What Ev?” He was always attentive to his grandmother’s needs whenever he was around her. On Wednesday, June 24, 2020, Michael departed this earth at the age of 45 at the Atlanta Medical Center. Aside from his father, Michael was predeceased by his grandfather, Charlie Bentley; two uncles, Benny Bentley and Michael Walker; four aunts, Julia Hicks, Frances Searcy, Doris Bentley and Belmira Devon; great grandmother, Anna Warner; a niece, Sakhya Bentley; and a cousin, Wayne Bentley. Michael will truly be missed by all that knew him. Michael leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Evelyn Bentley; a brother, Chantel Peter Bentley ; grandmother, Lucille Bentley; two uncles, Charles Bentley (Jeanella) and Johnny Devon; two aunts, Marion Bentley and Shelly Ann Sheffield; godmother, Betty Crumpton- Roseboro, and a host of cousins and close friends that were near and dear to him.
